The Holiday and Parade committe of the Meets And Bounds divison of Congress made it official in 1985 that it is proper to captilize the Fourth of July.
I have to agree with everyone else's complaint about this one. Our Fourth of July should be capitalized because it's a holiday for us. It should not be capitalized in the UK because it is just another ordinary day for them. They wouldn't capitalize the third of July any more than we would.
