So after all the CM words on this board I decided to do my best to pay back some magic on my trip this past weekend and went to guest services to have them fill out 3 compliments cards (can't recall what they are officially called) for 3 CMs that were just beyond stellar and made our days while there. It felt SO GOOD! they do so much for us, when we can do it back, it feels so uplifting.

One of them was our KTTKtour guide. We found out at the end of our tour it was his FIRST tour he'd given. :lovestruc He was so well polished and relaxed, you would never have known. So, I went straight from the Roy bench to GS and praised him. :lovestruc :goodvibes

@Mickeyonastickey, your time WILL COME...in Oct! :goodvibes;)

CMs are the reason WE return time and time again.

OH, and I'm not a CM nor do I play one (or know one) on TV. :rotfl:

DF is a CM at CBR and let me tell you, those cards get back to them! Last I checked he'd received 9 and they not only put a little extra spring in a CM's step but they are also one of the main things leaders look at when considering promotions. So thank you for taking the time to fill those cards out! It means so much to the CMs and, thanks to you one of them may have even received a raise ;)

I love to give compliments to anyone who does good.

Always saying Thank You for kind actions.

Thanks for the idea :goodvibes

How do you identify the CM for the card- just by first name from their nametag, or do you have to include when & where they were working?

I think people have said here to get the name from their tag and if you can, where they were from and of coruse, where they were. I didn't get the places any of them were from but I did get their first names and where they were working and when. Like for David at Mousegears on the register at 11am on Saturday. I happened to talk to him a little and found out he was a former production animator that had been laid off last year and was training now and still loved to do what he was doing for us, which was just ringing up our purchases. So, I was able to also tell them he was a trainer and ex prod. artist. Anythig you can tell them to ID the CM is helpful. :goodvibes I saved up all my kudos for one visit to GS so they did a card for each person. It felt GOOD! :goodvibes

We try to do this whenever we find a CM who stands out! We always try to give the CMs a smile and a thank you, but filling out the cards is just our way of saying we really mean it!

Yes, identify the CM by his name AND where he's from (that's on his nametag just below his name) if possible. Also tell them where the CM was working, the time you were there, and if possible what the CM was doing (ride host, greeter, server etc). Anything to separate him from the rest of the CMs in the area.

By name, where he/she are from, work location and time. Especially if you find a CM with a common name it's better to be as detailed as possible

My daughter has all of hers also - a whole stack on her desk at home. For the OP they are called Guest Fanatic Cards I believe.

What a wonderful idea :goodvibes We'll be doing this our next trip for sure! We always encounter so many great CM's, they deserve to be recognized.

I can think of so many CMs that I would love to go back in time and do this for.

In particular a CM that sent my daughter a Princess Tiana pin from Tinkerbell when we were in Animal Kingdom waiting to have breakfast at Tusker House. If you happen to read this - I again thank you so very very much.

I made a point to do it this time because on our last visit, a CM made me cry by just putting his Mickey puffy hand out for my DS who is very austictic to give a hi-5 to and he had NEVER done that before. Heck, he'd never even waved bye-bye before at that point and he was 3. But he DID it!!! My son hi-5ed! I told the CM he'd never done that before and he said "Disney magic, always at Disney". I'm misting just thinking about it now. I'm so used to having to explain to confused people about why he looks at them w/ no smile and a blank stare and why he won't talk to them because he can't talk. I shouldn't do it but it's just gotten to the point it's easier and faster and I hate people to feel slighted. I didn't have my whits about me to make note of that CMs name and I knew giving a physical description of the man and where he was an when wouldn't be enough. So THIS time, I made a point. :goodvibes It wasn't anything he wouldn't normally have done but it made my decade and I wished I could have told him so.

Very awesome. Can't wait to do this for those who help make our trip amazing. Wonder if I can grab several and fill them out as I go so I dont procrastinate and forget

At least right now, you have to ask the CM behind the desk to have one filled out and you only write your name on it, they write the rest of the info.

I wonder if you can do it from home? I could understand how that might be more difficult as they see someone in person so they know it's not that CM or family member ;) trying to plug someone. NOT that anyone would do that. ;):rolleyes1 But in case you couldn't get to GS or something, it'd be nice.

I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out over this. I can only imagine as his momma what that moment must have been like.

I did this last week. I was at MK on Thursday, which was the same day Obama was there. I had a reservation at the barber shop for my toddler's first hair cut. Every CM I asked if I would still be able to keep the appointment gave me a different answer. I was telling a CM about it while waiting for Rapunzel. She told me that she would get the correct answer for us. Well, she still didn't know by time we left Rapunzel. She found us SEVERAL hours later all the way in Frontierland to tell us she had found out that we couldn't go the time of our reservation, but to walk in after Main Street opened and they would take care of us. She truly went above and beyond and was the only one to give us the correct response.

I sent an e-mail when I returned for the CMs doing crowd control before, during and after the Main Street Electrical Parade. One in particular stuck out, but I made sure to point out that everyone in that area near the ice cream shop was doing a great job. What a difficult job that is. Holy cow.

Also, our server at Edit: meant Garden Grill was beyond awesome. She had to deal with each of my kids spilling their drinks (not at the same time) all over the table, the food and the floor. Both times she cleaned it up and got us new food and never stopped smiling. I know we weren't an easy table for her.

In the email, I included their names, date, time and location. I received a phone call from a Disney rep who assured me that my comments would reach the CMs and the CMs' supervisors. I hope that is the case.

I did this on our last trip over Thanksgiving. I felt that the CM that filled out the card was not happy to be doing it though. In fact I had another CM (Ariel)I wanted to leave praise for and he brushed me off. Now it was Thanksgiving Day but it wasn't that crowded so I'm not sure why. I think I'll give it a shot on our next trip. Something magical always happens. There are so many great CM's!

We have made out cards for CM's who have gone above & beyond. We also make it a point to call CM's by name when thanking them for any and all assistance given.

To the PP who asked about getting some comment cards in advance and filling them out as you go: I think what I'll do it bring a tiny notebook and write down the awesome CM's name, description, location and home town along with what made them so great. Then maybe I can pass it in to Guest Services on my way out of the park. Can a CM or DIS veteran comment on this strategy?

I am also planning on bringing little thank you cards (business card sized) with individual candies taped to them to handout to folks. I got mine here

(I suppose I could be really deviant and attach indiviually wrapped pieces of gum instead of candy! lol. :rolleyes1 )
