Weird ? I know but I wondered if any had gone to a table service restaurant and orderd food to go? meaning without a reservation or currently dinning there.

TIA:flower3:

I've heard of some people getting the cheddar cheese soup from Le Cellier to go by just walking up to the check in desk. I've never tried it myself so who knows :confused3

we've never asked, but have been behind people in the check-in line that were asking if they could. In every instance, those asking were told "no, sorry, we are not set up for take-out service."

Saw that happen at Le Cellier (on several occasions) as well as Kona Cafe at The Polynesian and Turf Club at Saratoga Springs. People were directed to the closest counter service locations. Now will say every time we saw that happen, the places were very, very busy, with long lines at the check-in desk.

Maybe if you happen to hit a "down" time they would be more accomodating. I would guess that if you have to wait in a long line before you even get to ask your question, the answer will be no!

I know we were told last year when we went to a particular restaurant we loved loved an appetizer-well sushi and was told we could come back and order it to go. But I didnt know how that was handled and if it was done often bc I dont want to waste time getting there and then looking like I am stupid.

Also what if it is your resort hotel restaurant??? Why could you not order stuff to go just bc it is Disney:confused3

So just wonderd if people had done this before. Thanks

thanks for your post. I appreciate it. I understand that they are set up as an eat in restaurant and probably cant handle numerous amounts of people just stopping in. But it would be nice if it was your resort hotel restaurant to accomidate people.

I found that the room service menu includes some options from the resort restaurants. The only place we ever got take out was at ESPN which you can order from the bar.

I see what you're saying, and if it was anywhere else, it would probably work like that. Except Disney resorts are so huge, with thousands of rooms at each hotel. And then, the restaurants in the resort hotels are not limited to just that hotel's guests...guests come from other Disney hotels, as well as coming from the Disney parks, to eat at all of the hotel restaurant locations. And then there's local Florida residents eating at Disney restaurants, too. The place is popular, lol.

Agree with previous poster...if you're staying at that particular hotel, do check the room service menu. That would probably be your best bet. Or maybe ask at the concierge desk of your hotel to see if anything can be worked out.

If all else fails, you could just get a reservation, get seated, order your food then ask for to-go boxes as soon as it's delivered to your table. I've read about people doing that, too. :thumbsup2

In general, Disney TS will not allow you to take complete meals to go. An appetizer or dessert here or there, maybe. This applies to both park and resort restaurants. Have heard of a couple of restaurants that may do meals to go, like the Wave. It may also completely depend on who you ask, so don't go out of your way to get somewhere assuming you will be able to take food to go from a TS.

So I thought maybe I was making up things in my mind to suit myself..but I asked hubby and he said no they said we could come and get it to go. So I will try and see what they say if not its ok but I would so love the sushi. It is sooooo yum! Hope everyone has a great day..thanks for the responses!:thumbsup2

Technically it's not a table service restaurant, however at the Kona Island Sushi Bar in the Polynesian you can take out their Sushi if you don't want to eat it over there.

I have had take out at Le Cellier and a few deluxe resort restaurants when I was staying there as a guest. I love the food at some restaurants and it was pretty nice to be able to eat it from our balcony and watch wishes. Perfect ending to the day. However, I can see this becoming something Disney becomes strict about - not allowing it. If it becomes overly popular then people will go to the restaurant without ressies, pick up what they want without the servers getting tips and causing the kitchen's load to increase.
We've had take out a lot from bar restaurants. I was sick once at Disney and my husband made dinner interesting by picking up different dinners each night at the various ones near our resort.
