For those who stay at BWV, have you ever ordered take out from Flying Fish?

I have always been told they do not do take out. I did find out that you can do room service Flying Fish. If you know what you want from Flying Fish you just call room service and specify you want to order from Flying Fish menu. It did take a little longer than normal room service. We were told that room service is not taken in order from Flying Fish but as time permits. If they are busy they may refuse your order. Only had that happen to us once but then we called back and hour latter and no problem.

For the most part, table service restaurants stopped doing take-out orders about 7-8 years ago when the Dining Plans were really at peak popularity. Common reasoning used was that guests would order carry-out from a TS restaurant and then expect to be charged only a Counter Service meal credit.

Whatever the case, it's pretty tough to get TS restaurants to fill a traditional to-go order. I've heard people claim that they will ask to be seated at a table, place an order, and immediately upon delivery ask that the food be boxed to-go. Not something I'd try, personally.

I have been told by servers that the policy is an agreement between Disney and the union to guarantee tips. If the server knows that you are going to take the food to go and that they will still get their 18% they seem to play along.

We wanted burgers from the ESPN Club to go, told the server when we ordered that we were pretty full and that we would be taking food to go, wink, wink. When she brought the plated food, she brought to go boxes and condiment packets, we put the food in the boxes and she put the boxes in a large bag. We tipped 18%.

She got what she wanted, we got what we wanted, all is right at WDW.

Other restaurants/servers may have a different outcome but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Big River Grille has always done take out for us. Just go to the bar and place your order.

I have also had the same experience with ESPN. It was suggested by the server to be seated and order and get a to go box. Big River Grille has also proveded take out for us. We usually call from our room at BWV and wait a few and go pick up meal. It will already be boxed, bagged and ready to go. Only TS that has done this for us. Great burgers and nacho's at BRG...
