Take our time with 2 little ones and ride RSR. Are both possible?

We are coming for four days (F,Sa,Su,M) with a 4 and 2 year old. We want to be able to take our time enjoying the parks and not making them rush through things. DH and I also want to ride RSR. I'm not going to make the little kids stand in a huge line for many reasons. What suggestions does anyone have about getting FPs or single rider lines so that we can enjoy this new ride?

Single rider line will be perfect. Assuming you do not want to ride together.... Asuming you can't ride together....

Ride the single rider line at 8AM and as many times as you like after that.

Get there at rope drop (they start letting into the park 1/2 hour before then) and have one parent wait in the FP line while the other takes the kids on Maters or something else. (it may take up to 45mins to get you FP's but its well worth it)

I'll be trying to do the same with a 1 and a 3 year old next week. I'll report back on how it goes. The above is my strategy. We have EE. I'll have DH take the 3yo over to ride Luigi's while I wait in the FP line with the baby in the stroller (Assuming your 2yo cannot ride Luigi's or Mater's either).

Later DH and I will take turns doing RSR with the FP and child swap. Whoever has the kids can take them elsewhere, I'm not going to make them stand in line, but it seems like there is so much more to see, they'll like just walking around Carsland.

If the single rider line happens to be shorter that FP we'll use that instead. If the RSR wait is just too long even with FP, or we don't get a FP, we'll skip it. That's the compromise we make by trying to make it a less stressful trip.

Ummm, this won't work. The 4 yo and the 2 yo can't ride alone; hence they can't do single rider.

I'm assuming the 2 an 4 yo can't ride RSR at all maybe if she has a tall 4yo they can. The height limit of 40" makes it unsafe for some of Lighting McQueen's biggest fans, unfortunately.

Luigi and Mater's rides have a 32" limit which means some 2yo's will make it, but not all.

So you are looking at optimizing child swap + either FastPass or Single Rider, depending on which is shorter.

Yes ... very true and important to note. The little ones must be at least 40" to ride RSR.

Actually, a short 4 year old will make it. We just got back from our trip with DS4, and he is very short...but still tall enough to ride the 40" rides. He was able to do so at 4 yrs 2 mos, and is only in the 10% for height. So I'd say more than 90% of 4 year olds can ride.

One other thing to note is the breakdown factor. We had FastPasses, and thought we were golden when we went back to ride last night. It took us about 20 minutes to get through the FP line, just past where you surrender your FP. We went a bit further, and then the ride broke down. It was down for ~40 min, so our total wait was an hour. Once the ride started up again, it only took about 2 minutes to get on the ride.

But the adults can do single rider. Mom can ride, while dad takes the kids to Bug Land. Dad can ride, while mom takes the kids to see Turtle Talk with Crush.

Get the FPs. Then everyone goes to the entrance, get a rider swap pass. Mom and 4yo ride, while dad takes 2yo to Bugsland or Maters. Mom and Dad meet up, dad takes rider swap card and 4yo and they ride while Mom buys 2yo some cute stuff from the shop there, or Maters or whatever.... Now, you still have 1FP left. You come back later, dad rides with the FP (getting a rider swap card) while mom takes 2 kids on Maters, then mom and 4yo ride with rider swap...

We're looking at doing this scenario with our 2 year old (38 inches tall) and 5 year old (42 inches tall.)

One problem with your plan is there will not be one fast pass left. 2 year old gets into park for free and therefore does not have a ticket with which to get a fast pass.

Here's my plan: Dad takes kids to bugs land, Mom takes all three tickets to wait for fast pass. Family goes to RSR, get rider swap pass. Dad and DD5 use 2 fastpasses. Mom and DS2 ride mater or watch Dad and Dd from Flo's while having a snack. Do other cars rides as a family. Then, Mom takes DD5 on RSR, using remaining fast pass and rider swap pass. Dad and DS go to disney jr show or turtle talk.

(also, might be able to do 3 rides... Dad and DD wait in standby line while Mom and DS wait in fast pass line. However, this plan requires a two year old to wait in a possibly 45 min line.)

Last year when DD was 4 she was just under 40 inches. They let her on jumping jellyfish, but to me she didn't look like she was as tall as the marker. I already told DS2 that Lightening McQueen is too fast for 2 year old, and he seems to be okay with this. Hopefully he won't be upset when the time comes that everyone gets to ride but him, and he is the big cars fan in the family.

The rider swap pass allows for the other adult + one guest, so you don't need to use a fastpass for that. And the older child will have a ticket to get a fastpass. So you would use 2 fastpasses for adult/child for ride 1, use rider swap for adult/child for ride 2. Use fastpass for adult for ride 3 and use child swap pass for adult/child for ride 4.

We do this all the time. And obviously it doesn't have to be an adult/child combo - I'm just using the family here.

Wow, thank you for all the great advice! We will give the FP/rider swap combo a try. Do you think a Monday will be less crowded than a weekend?

Never mind, post 12 explained it better...

Do you have EE?

We were there on the 15th. The line for FPs forms inside rope drop before 8am. If you don't have EE, the line forms at the rope and goes on for a LONG time. We got into the park at around 7:40 with EE, and I got on the end of the line for the EE people. Wasn't in line for but a few minutes, and got a FP for 9:50. While I waited the kids I was with did the single rider line. Luigi's was 30 or 40 minutes by the time I got FPs and got to Carsland.

If the kids are not going on the ride then it is really simple. The single rider line is amazing... Just be at the gates about 7:45 AM (assuming park opens at 8AM) and head straight to single rider line... Switch off as one parent watches kids in cars land the other rides...

If you do go the FP route it is also very simple. arrive at 7:00-7:15AM (If the park opens at 8:00 AM). Once every one neters the park have one person grab fast passes.

With FP you can use the rider swap (as you have a small child) as mentioned before or you can have two people use the FP twice and the other person can use the single rider line...
