Take kids to eat at Boma, or bring them to the kids club?

I've just learned that at the AKL they have a kids club -- thinking maybe i should drop the kids in there for two hours while me and DH enjoy a dinner???

What do you think?/ my boys are 4 & 6? Has anyone used the kids club in AKL?

I'd bring the kids. DD has been eating at Boma since she was 4 and she loves it. Boma is one of her favorite places to eat at WDW.

My kids loved Boma too. I also have to add...I have one of the world's pickiest eaters! Our last trip we stayed at AKL and we looked in at Simba's and it was very nice. I didn't see a single unhappy kid in there. We didn't use the kids club since we had 2 out of 3 kids that were too young. My vote is Boma, just b/c it was good food and the atmosphere was very kid friendly.

That is just what I was going to suggest

DH and I did that on our trip to the AKL and my dd's had a fabulous time. The next day they thanked us for letting them have some "time to themselves".

I think during the WDW vacations we can forget that kids need downtime too, time to do a craft, watch a movie, play and just have fun. Since that trip we always make sure to have lots of pool time, evenings at the resort with a trip to the arcade and time at the playground. Some trips include the kids club others don't but whenever we have taken my dd's to one of the kids clubs they love it. If given a choice between another dinner in a restaurant or an evening with kids and playtime my kids would choose the kids club for sure. FWIW the hands down fav is the Neverland at the Poly followed closely by Simba's at the AKL with the one at the Dolphin at 3rd.

I say drop the kids at the kids club. Whichever rest. you pick. Most 4&6 yr olds wouldn't pick sitting still and quiet for 2 hrs over playing with other kids for 2 hrs. They might like the food but most would still pick playing. Now add a few yrs and I would say eat with you but to a four yr old sitting in a rest. wouldn't be fondly remembered after the trip. I think the meal would be much more enjoyable for you also if you aren't entertaining, refereeing, or cutting food. Can you say real conversation.

My girls would be mad at me if I didn't take them to Boma. They love it and always have!

I would bring the kids to BOMA's. My kids went and loved it. They have a special kids area where they can get kids food too.

Well I'm not going to try and dissuade you from leaving your kids in the kids club while you eat but we have eaten twice at Boma and kids are definitely welcome there. If I was going to use the kids club, then I also would want to do Jiko instead, fwiw. hth.

My kids (then 9 and 2) loved eating at Boma. Unless you want to have a meal alone with your DH..have them try it.

We didn't eat at Jiko, but did do Boma with a 4 yo and a not quite 2 yo. There were no probs with having them at Boma. It has a lot of activity and is quite kid friendly. Like the other posters, if you are going to get a night at a kids club, make your dinner somewhere more special, where the kids might be less comfy.

Do you have to be a guest at that particular resort for your children to take part in the kids club, or is it okay if you are staying at any Disney Resort.

You don't have to be staying at that particular resort at all to use the kids club. I do believe you have to make reservations though - I wouldn't put it off until the last minute, in case they get full.

Simba's Cubhouse at the AKL is one of my kids favorite clubs - The Neverland Club at The Polynesian is their other favorite.

You do NOT have to be a guest at the resort to use the club. The cost is $10/per hour/per child. Make reservations as soon as you know. The kids love it! At that club they can see some of the animals.

It is not saying that kids aren't welcome at BOMA, but it is a nice break for all if the kids have some down time. In august we will be eating at Jiko's while the kids are in the club. Another night we are eating at the Kona Cafe while the kids are in The Neverland Club. We could take the kids (7 & 11) to either restaurant, but they ASK to go to the clubs. It works for everyone.

We took our kids to Boma at 4 & 6 and they loved it!!! On the other hand they have asked several times if they get to go back to Simba's Cubhouse this year. They went there when we went to Jiko. It was expensive though, I think we paid around $30 per hour for the 2 of them, including they're supper. How about Boma for a breakfast??

My DD has gone to Simba's Clubhouse twice, and she has always had a great time! She likes to do the craft projects and color with markers! We paid $10/hr and it included her meal - when I checked her in, they asked what she wanted for dinner, and she picked hotdog/ff/choc milk. The ladies that work there are really nice. (She was there for an hour both times)

She's eaten with us a few times at BOMAs, and she likes it; but sometimes, I guess she just wants some down time and just wants to color.

She's also gone to Cubs Den at Wilderness Lodge (she was there for 1.5 hrs). Again, she had a great time - and DH & I ate at Artist Point. She's eaten with us before at Artist Point, and liked it.

We ate at Boma last year and LOVED it! My girls enjoyed it too, but I'll be honest- there is so much wonderful on that buffet- to be in and out in an hour or 45 minutes (as our kids 3 and 5) kind of force us to do- is a shame. Maybe your kids are better at sitting and hanging out, so then it would be different. This year they will be over in Simba's Cubhouse and I think they and we will have a great time on our own! I say, go for it, either at Boma or Jiko. Even at Disney, bonding time with your partner is good!
