Take cab from DW?

We are going for a short trip to Disney and Universal next month. I have read several reports about how far the parking garage is at Universal and how looooong the walk to the park is. Would it be better to take a cab from DW to Universal? That way we wouldn't have to worry about parking and walking so far? What do you think the fare would be?

I would look into renting a car for the day instead of a cab. I would imagine the fares are pretty steep. The parking is $9 and the walk really isn't that bad since they have moving sidewalks to assist you. Personally, I would look into a rental car before thinking seriously about a cab...just my opinion.

A minivan taxi cab was $34 one way from All Star Sports to Hard Rock so I would guess it would be about $30 each way for any disney hotel to universal, so you are looking at a $60 round trip.

Valet parking is a little closer to CityWalk than the parking garages. You could also use that. You have to walk through CityWalk to get to the parks, regardless of how you get there.

You can take a mears shuttle bus for 10.00 r/t. we usually do that, so its 20.00 for 2 of us.

I agree that the taxi fare will be around $30 one-way and they will still drop you off near the car park so you still have a bit of a walk.

Taxis just drop you off at guest drop off which is not much closer than some of the parking lots. I'd spring for valet parking. It is cheaper than a cab and will get you closer than a cab. Valet parking is closer than guest drop off.
