Tahiti

Not with kids as we were on our honeymoon. We stayed in one of the over the water bungalow's and did the Paul Guigain cruise. I only remember seeing a young child (if I remember 18m) and then kids over the age of 12 or so (on the cruise). Sorry I couldn't be of more help..... what a beautiful place!

Yes us also on our honeymoon- no kids. It was beautiful. We stayed Hotel Bora Bora and it was magical. Deep over water bungalow
I don't recall seeing kids at all- but I was honeymooning not checking out kids.

Never been, but priced out this trip many many times. I keep trying to justify the price tag, but haven't yet to my husband or myself.

Not sure where you live, but from PA the plane ride is very very long to put it nicely. And it is very expensive.

This may just me but Tahiti is someplace I'd definetly rather go without kids. Seems like an ultra romantic type of place.

Good Luck

We were just watching Couples Therapy, and it was filmed at the St Regis Bora Bora resort. Made us check the prices, that's for sure! DH was disappointed to know that it isn't exactly like what's in the movie (we benefited greatly from counseling, would love to do yoga (though maybe not with the teacher in the movie) and of course to have it be completely all inclusive would be terrific), but it's still lovely. :)

DS was with us on our honeymoon...a cluster of rapidly dividing cells, but still, making himself apparent even a week after conception aka wedding night...so having him with us in Tahiti or Fiji wouldn't be all that much different. And he could at least be in a separate bedroom from us now on vacation, instead of making me too nauseated to do anything honeymoonish! :upsidedow

To get other ideas, you should check out various wedding/honeymoon planning message boards (theknot.com, weddingchannel.com, even the wedding forums at constantchatter dot com). Lots of good ideas!

We went to Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea for our honeymoon. It was 22 years ago and I don't recall seeing children there. It is very laid back with little activitie other than the beach and boat excursions. I think it would depend on your kids activity level - would they be happy spending all their time in and around the water? It is a beautiful place to visit but because it is very costly, I don't know that I could justify the cost of taking the kids - just don't think there is enough entertainment value for them - but I would LOVE to go back with hubby again. :)

We went and stayed at the Sharaton and then the Paul Guigain cruise for our Honeymoon in 2002...I do not recall seeing any kids. I agree...I think Tahiiti is more of an adult only vacation.

DH and I went to Tahiti a few years ago for a 2 week vacation. There are little to no activities for kids - it really is geared towards adult only.

The first week we stayed on Moorea in a bungalow that was on the beach but not over the water. OMG the mosquitoes were a nightmare!! They give you mosquito incense things to burn in your room (they're shaped like a spring and are kind of like incense that burns down - smelled nice) but we ended up wearing socks on our arms at night to keep the number of bites down. Had we been "on" the water, the breeze keeps them away. Live and learn!!

While on Moorea we did a lot of exploring. We rented a motorbike and wandered all over the island. Stopped at a little ice cream shop, saw some amazing views, but that's about it. There's nothing really "to do" except relax, which was fine with us as the time.

There is also a bit of a language barrier as it's French Polynesia and while they speak English at the resorts and at most shops, my limited high school French actually came in handy.

The second week we stayed on Bora Bora in a bungalow on the water. That was quite nice! Very romantic, no bugs (such a relief after Moorea!!), could watch the sunset from our little deck, there was a ladder into the water, a little lagoon to swim in, awesome food - a marvelous, relaxing, couple's retreat. We didn't see more than one or two kids - everything was geared towards couples.

On Bora Bora we rented a tiny little motor car and tooled around the island. There was more shopping and more "civizilation" than on Moorea but it was mainly duty-free jewelry shops, clothes, etc. DH bought me a Tahitian pearl necklace which I love.

Aside from eating the great food, swimming and relaxing on the beach, there isn't much to do. I doubt we'll go back as while it was fun at the time, there are lots of other places I want to see and now that we have 3 kids, Tahiti isn't a family destination (at least as far as I'm concerned).

I can't get to Photobucket from here at work but I'll put up some Tahiti pics this weekend. :goodvibes
