Good morning!

We had one rough evening last night. Tornado outbreak<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_4_38.gif' border=0></a> in our area. It was quite intense for a while.

I had already put Holly to bed when they took off regular programming to show the tornadoes headed in our direction. They call them twisting winds that can become tornadoes. It's really nice now how they can show these winds and exactly the path they are taking and then they put up your subdivision's name and give the time when they'll be in your yard.

I got Holly out of her bed and we all went down to the basement and snuggled in to ride out one storm after another. The worst part went just north of our neighborhood, straight to the neighborhood we moved out of 3 years ago. I haven't been able to contact any of my neighbors from there to see what happened, but there was a confirmed tornado there. I'm afraid to ask where. It's a big lakeside, wooded subdivision and I'm hoping it just got the wooded part.

Wild night, but we didn't think we would have any damage. I guess because we were in the basement we didn't realize how bad it really was out there. This morning my favorite tree in the whole yard

is missing a big chunk. About 25 feet long chunk. Either wind or lightning, not sure. DH went down and said there's some black on it.

I'm really sad about it. I love my trees. But, better the tree than the house. Thank you big tree for taking the hit for us.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/11/11_1_200.gif' border=0></a>

TINKBACKWARDS how horrifying for you!!! So glad you all are ok. I hope you hear from your neighbors. You have electricity, how about phone?? Can you call one of your old neighbors? Sorry about your tree but thank God you all are ok. I never ever want to live in Tornado area again. We had them spawn after hurricans when we lived in MS and that was bad enough. No torando alley or Earthquake areas for me!!

gotta take lauren to school. She had a GREAT play date. However, she was really bossy. Thank goodness the child was very tolerant. It could have gotten ugly!!

We've been thru some pretty bad hurricanes and have had 5 trees fall on our house but I've never experienced a tornado....and hopefully never will Aunty M! Aunty M! And I'm very sorry about your favorite tree....I too am a "tree hugger" and it just breaks my heart when trees are injured or cut down. One of my neighbors had beatiful old oaks in her front yard but recently had them all chopped down just so people would see her house better.....I was literally in tears!

Good Morning everyone!!

Well, [COLOR=FF66CC]llebrekniT[/COLOR] neglected to mention that after the first wave of storms went through her county, the next wave came through Lexington!!! Yep, the first tornado to touch down in Lexington in, I think, 13 years. We headed to the basement around 10:30pm last night. Luckily for us, the worst part of the storm went just North of us (like [COLOR=FF66CC]llebrekniT[/COLOR]). It was really bad as it hit a subdivision with a lot of homes that were mass-produced (i.e., not very well-built). I know a bunch of people who live there, I'm gonna give 'em all a call today. They showed a few houses on the News last night that had lost their roof & one lost a whole bedroom off the back of their house!!! The area that got hit was fairly new & most people had been living there less than 6 months. One family had moved in a week ago & hadn't even made a house payment yet!!

OK, enough of that! I hope everyone else had a peaceful evening.

I'm gonna have some breakfast....pop-tarts anyone???

My dad is having a knee replacement surgery today.......he was supposed to have it after we got back from WDW but the surgeon had to move it up a week. My parents knew I'd cancel my WDW trip so they made my brother promise NOT to tell me. They've known about this for weeks......I'm very upset about this..... Well, my brother just called and told me anyway....felt I should know in case the worst happened.......at least I got to speak to my dad this morning before he went to the hospital. I'm MUCH closer to my dad than my mom and they know how much I worry about him. He's 75 and has had recent heart murmurs. He made me promise to go to WDW and said the operation will be over by this afternoon so I'll know if he's alright before I leave. He also doesn't want us to see him in pain..... and knee replacement surgery and rehabilitation entails a lot of that. My dad is the best person I know and I hate that he has to go throught this

It's been just an awful week.....poor, sweet geffric, I know this has been more awful for you and hope you are doing ok......please know you are on my mind...
