'Morning cheermom1! I just did a little house cleaning and now I'm going to reward myself with some scrap booking time! I do have laundry to attend to, but it'll be there later...

I have an empty house this morning - kids are in school and DH is out doing errands. I'm cranking the Disney music on Live365.com!!

SadieDog - I have to ask: what is the appeal of ice fishing????? DH and I cannot figure that one out. He loves to fish in the spring and summer, but.... ice fishing??....really?!

good morning everyone how are you today?

Hi cheermom I'm good. Hubby and I are watching TV and all the things leading up to the Inauguration. But at the same time I'm a little disappointed. According to our local weathermen we are supposed to be getting snow. But so far it is a no show. But the birds are out and eating like crazy. We can't keep the bird feeders full.

I don't know how she performs at your house, but here, as my son, I get sudden requests for laundry at 9:30pm...

Umm....I'm sorry, but are you just now realizing you are out of pants/shirts/socks/whatever?? And of course it's always MY fault that he's out of something, even though I do laundry on a regular basis (and by the way, "out of - " something doesn't necessarily mean his dresser is empty...it means the three articles of clothing that are his favorites are dirty...)

And he's not even a teen yet!!

Phew, I just made it back and put the TV on. They were still doing their religeous stuff when I turned it on and I just soon skip that part anyway. OMG Aretha - that hat.

My mom e-mailed me to tell me that Aretha was singing.

Now ice fishing - 1st you have to enjoy the outdoors in the winter. I will admit it is a lot of work, can be pretty uncomfortable sticking your hands in the ice water and it is easy to lose a fish. When you do catch one, it's pretty cool pulling up a fish through a small hole in the ice. You pull the line up by hand then you have to wind the line back up. Yeah, your hand get pretty cold. We do things to interact and keep warm like football and frisbee. The dogs love getting out and running around. We watch for eagles and build snow sculptures. When there is ice (without snow) we may ice skate and you would be amazed at how far you can bounce a rubber ball. I will admit, if we had a snowmobile it would be easier and more fun.

The Obama girls look really pretty today though.

Nope. Me neither. I've watched inaugurations in the past with great interest, but this is a stage show. Nuf said.

My not watching really has nothing to do with Obama - I like him as a person and I'm very interested to see what he'll do as President - but I've been so disgusted with all the hoopla over the "event". It IS history in the making, but it should be treated as so. It's an historical event, yet it's been billed more like a Who's Who of Hollywood. At least in my neck of the woods.

Anywho!...I just scrapbooked 4 pages this morning!!! That's a record for me. I vowed to not take a year and a half to scrap book this Disney trip, like I did last time.... And after this project is done I want to do some pages of the boys.

My not watching really has nothing to do with Obama - I like him as a person and I'm very interested to see what he'll do as President - but I've been so disgusted with all the hoopla over the "event". Not to worry, the coverage I saw had nothing to do with Hollywood. It was all business. Aretha did sing as did Navy people. Aretha did not sing one of her songs, it was - hmmmm it escaped me, some American song. There was also an American poet. I didn't see 1 person from Hollywood unless they showed someone when I turned my head. The focus was political people, family and showing the huge crowd of every day people. I did wonder if I would see Oprah. To think it was not too many years ago that African-Americans could not drink out of the same water fountain or had to sit in the back of a bus. The Riots were not that long ago and now we have an African-American president.
