Did you read the Lestat series? If so, what did you think of them compared to Twilight and The Sookie Stackhouse books?

The Lestat series is a bit darker. Twilight is like a teen love story. Sookie Stackhouse novels are like a supernatural detective/harlequin romance novel. I've been gone the past few days because I'm trying to read the whole series, all 6 books. Once I start reading a series, it takes over my life.

Thanks for the Thanksgiving decorations and instructions on how to add them. :thumbsup2

Yes, I do think the TF is messing with me. It was he or she who gave me the splat. I could see it for the longest time then one day it went away and never came back. To my knowledge none of my computer settings have changed. I can't see it on the laptop or the desktop. The only thing I can think of that has happened is we got a new ISP around the same time it disappeared. So maybe the TF ISN'T messing with me. :confused3 All I know for sure is it drives me nuts! That space could be used for a nice scrolling tag, but instead it shows up as a red X as if I've done something bad.

I haven't seen the red x in a while. So it might be your ISP. The cute red splat with eyeballs has been peeping at me.

Yeah it's awesome! I need to go back and start from the beginning and watch every episode instead of just catching it occasionally because I really enjoyed it. The only t.v. show that I watch religiously is Supernatural  (and a good amount of the Colbert report :rotfl: )

Mmmmm! The Winchester boys.

Hello everyone,
My name is RanCan and I am tagless!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Can I join in the fun???
Funny meeting you here Denis, my fellow tagless friend!!! LOL

Welcome!

GOOD MORNING YA'LL

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Morning!

I ordered a new laptop. When it gets here, I'll be more active again (and more careful.)

Well hello my tagless friend :) What do you think the chances are we get a tag or 2 before cruise #2?

I love Anne Rice books so I think that i'd like the Sookie Stackhouse ones. I love True Blood. Twilight is great too, although there's a bit too much teenage angst at time :rotfl:

I'm glad someone shares my appreciation! :lovestruc

GOOD MORNING YA'LL!!

Hope you all have a fanciful day.
It just sounded good. :confused3 :rotfl:

You and your fanciful words. ;)

My DD2 threw up all over me last night and my good down comforter. :headache: The fun and joy of her starting preschool and picking up all those new germs. I just hope she's better before the cruise next week. And that none of the rest of us catch it.

Mean Queen, I'm so sorry. Is your little one feeling better now?

Here is a good question. . .how hard is it to cancel a Disney trip when you have already paid the deposit? My computer crashed this week and we just have too many other things to justify another trip until next summer. Has anyone ever canceled a trip? :(

First of all, I'm so sorry! ...But, I also completely understand.

I think it should be fully refundable up to the 45-day mark. That was my understanding when we went ahead and booked this trip we just took.

.

So, the latest news from the auto industry is that Ford plans to "idle" a total of NINE plants around the country. They are just about the #1 company that DH's work supplies parts for.

Yep, this is getting mighty interesting indeed!

I have had to cancel a few over the years. no problem, they will refund all if it is not past the 45 day limit. Even then, its a prorate amount for the deposit.

had to cancel one in september of 2001, due to work. They refunded the whole amount, even though it was less than two weeks before the start.

I hate that for ya'll. It's also bad for family who works in Ohio. They work for a plant that makes I think upholstery for Ford.

I still say we need to be buying American products as much as possible. In return, American products need to be good quality products that we don't mind paying for. I buy only Ford vehicles, so I promise I've been trying to keep your hubby in work.

Thanks for the info about the trips. We pay off our Bank of America loan for when we consolidated our ccs in March of 2010. I think our summer 2010 trip will be a reward for that. We'll also have to go to Universal because Harry Potter park will be there by then.

Grumpy Pirate, if you don't mind my asking, how soon before you got your $ back on your cc (my check card in my case)? Also, do you have any computer recommendations? Can I still get a computer with XP? Or am I stuck with Vista?

Hmm, I think the refund was less than a week. it was pretty fast.

(it was a little complicated, as I had a zero balance, so I had to have a "credit" amount on the account, for a while.)

Computers are another thing. I guess you need to first figure out if you want a laptop or desktop. for instance, one of my laptops that I bought for travel is a small HP brand, that has vista, (but COMES installed with XP, and the CD to upgrade it to Vista!) a lot of places are doing that now.

I bought DW a larger HP laptop for her to take with her, (uses vista) but at home I have built some shuttle desktops and installed with XP!

You can also get one, and install Linux on them, as you can get patches to run windows based software.

And getting near Christmas, there will be some bargan's coming out. I would look at deals at Price club, Staples, Circuit City, Newegg, Tigerdirect and other places on line, and in the local newspaper!

Thanks. It's not a big hurry to get the money back. . .not like I spent it already or anything.

As far as computers go. . .I have a laptop for work (what I'm using now). I called Dell about the desktop. To fix it and upgrade it it would cost $1200! I figured I could get a new desktop for less than that.

This is what I want. . .
320GB hard drive
3GB or higher RAM
at least 2.43 GHz Processor

I want a desktop, as my desktops are tending to last longer than my laptops.

What brand would you reccommend?

I can't cancel Disney right now--their systems are down. . .:sad2:

Well, for desktop computers, I build shuttles from their "barebones" models

http://us.shuttle.com/

I got used to them from work, and they are really nice and dependable.

we also used the Dell brand towers (quad processors and so forth) but they are a bit more expensive.

you can probably get what you want by shopping around. The prices are starting to slowly come down for Christmas, as they try and sell electronics, other than computers, for Christmas.

You have been so helpful, Grumpy Pirate. Thanks a bunch! Given the specs I gave earlier, would that be a computer that could feasibly last 2-3 years?
