I will say that I honestly feel that benefits are worth being a teacher. Health insurance for myself and the kids including dental, vision, and optional life is $402 a month. DH pays $172 a month for his. Not a small amount, but we do have vision, dental, and a $15 copay for office visits, no matter how many tests are run. Last week I had an eye appointment and paid $22.50 for the checkup, contact lens fitting, and 4 boxes of contacts. I think that's pretty darn good. The vision add-on was like $200 for the whole year. I pay a lot more than that every year if I don't have insurance: $139 for the office visit, $50 every other month for contacts.
Your insurance does sound good.
There was also talk that my husband's company was considering doing away with health insurance. That would be awful. We will take it one day at a time and see what happens.
