we just gave this to my step-daughter this weekend for her 4th birthday. We gave her the "learning system" that came w/ one book and then gave her another book. ( the Disney Princess adventures book). We kind of wanted to see if she'd respond to it before we got a ton of books.
Let me tell you, I WISH we got more books!!! That child LOVED that present. I think she took the books and "the magic pen" everywhere she went all weekend long. It's SO easy to load the books. You go to Leapfrog.com and create an acct and load the books to your "pen". (all the software is included". It literally takes like 5 minutes.
She just turned 4. This not only held her interest, but she was SO proud that she could do the little activities at the back of the book. It teaches them identifying objects, listening to instructions, finding words and letters....all while in the individual character's voices. it's the most terrific "toy" ever. We'll be getting more books for Christmas, that's for sure !!
Each page has a "book " icon so if you touch the pen to that, it'll read the whole page. OR your child can go along word for word. We liked it because I think that by doing that, they get used to seeing what the words looked like. Also, she's just learning her letters, so when they asked for a "B" for bucket, she could find it and was so proud!! She would play a page ( for like a hundred times) and then recite back the page. it's a dream gift and I highly recommend it to everyone!!
Oh, and the really great thing about the books is that they're just "normal " books. so you can sit and read with your child with or without the pen. But the whole time she was reading to herself with this, she was just SO proud that she could. It made us feel so happy just watching her accomplish what she could.

TRU also has all the books on sale for around $ 9.99 from $ 13.99, so that's a good deal. (haven't found any coupons on the books though)

If you're going the Toys R Us route, there is a free $10 gift card when you spend $75 coupon on the front page of this weeks ad, so remember to use that too if you have a high enough total (pre-coupon total is what counts).

Did it scan that price or is that just what the shelf said? The sale tag may have fallen off or been accidentally pulled when they were pulling tags from last week's sale. It is still $39.99 at Target.com and I just got an email from Leapfrog a day or so ago saying they were $10 off at Target.

The sale tag is not there so I brought it to one of the price check scanner in the toy department and it scanned up at 49.99?

I just called the store and they are now 49.99. They do not price match their online prices.

I just got home from Target with the TAG system for my grandson. I do have to take it back because they only had the pink but I grabbed that color so I would have it while the coupons were still good.
I had to fight with the person at customer service and the manager to get the bargain.
They told me I had to decide between the $10 store coupon or the $5 savings from the matching price at Kohls. Then they said they could only take 1 coupon per item, not the store coupon and manufacturer coupon. I told them to put it through and see if the computer rejects it which of course it didn't. I did wind up getting it for the $34.99 Kohls price with the 2 $10 coupons for a price of $14.99.
Don't even ask me about the books. The regular price was $13.99 and I used the $3 off coupon but I do think there are better prices out there and I may have to return these and buy them somewhere else.

Thanks everyone!! I had purchased the Tag reader at Kohls w/ my 30% off coupon. BUT then realized, thanks to everyone here, that it was the older one that only holds 5 books.

So, off I went to my Target last night to get the better one. They accepted both coupons, so I got the full $20 off which I was surprised at cause they ALWAYS tell me they don't accept internet coupons (not even the ones printed at target.com!!!) Didn't attempt the price match...

Can someone please post the link to the site whyere I can get the $3 off each book coupon. I had it and printed out 2 coupons but I want to run to TRU this weekend and get some more books for my grandson. They are cheaper there than Target but the coupons will help too.

Our Target has a toy book with coupons back in the toy department. The $10 off coupons are in there. There is a printable one instead, but I don't have the link for that right now...

If you go to Target.com, on the front page there's that scrolling advertisement. When the toy one comes up (#3 I think), there's a link that says 'Get Coupons'. If you click there, it should pull up the printable coupons.
