Tag Fairy abilities

Okay, I know that Tag Fairies are as mysterious as pearls in oysters, but...

What if I want to wish someone a "A very Merry UnBirthday"? Do I have to be a TF in order to be able to do this?

If not, I would appreciate a little help from more knowledgeable DISers...

I am not sure what you are asking?

The Tag Fairy is the only one that can place those cute colored and sometimes moving items in a Users Tag, the space under their Username. Users can place things there themselves but they will be in black.

I know that the Tag Fairies (and users) can write in the left margin. What I had seen was near the signature line, where it said "I've been unbirthdayed" with a picture of a cake.

Since it followed a uniform style, I thought this might be some way to "gift" other users. But it sounds like you are saying that posters are just doing this themselves. Is this the case?

Really just wondering if there was a way to give other posters some kind of electronic gift that they could allow to be displayed with their posts.

oh yeah...and if I write something in the optional box under my "Mouseketeer" listing, will it display both "Mouseketeer" and what I write, or just one or the other?

Whatever you write will appear under your user name. If you want to type Mouseketeer and then something else...that's fine. As far as the TF goes, you never know when the TF will appear and put something under your name...if he/she does, don't make any changes or you'll lose it.

Ah! The posters here do that themselves. I am guessing that there is a standardized PM that is sent around with the text of what to put. You will notice around the holidays things like that also pop up in signature. You would just send the PM and then the User puts it in their signature if they wish. Just dont' be offended if they don't use it. Some don't like to put things in their their signatures (present company included!)

If you want it to say Mouseketeer then you would need to write that and whatever else you want. The Mouseketeer/Veteran things are the default if there is nothing else placed there by the user. Once you put something you overwrite that default.

*BUT * THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!! DO NOT attempt to write or add anything once the Tag Fairy puts something in your Tag. Any attempts to alter the tags after she has waved her wand breaks the magic spell and all your tags will be lost.

Having two cats in our family, I am suitably impressed that yours allow you to do ANY of the chores you list, especially fold laundry, as that basket always becomes a bed as soon as it returns from the dryer.

Thanks so much for asking this question MainStreetFireman! I've been wondering the same thing...been on these boards for the past few years and seen all those cute little holiday wishes going 'round, but never knew how to send one. I'm also waiting patiently for the tag fairy...

So I guess when we see someone with a Happy Un-Birthday sign or an I've been boo-ed character, we can ask them to PM it to us? Or would that be poor etiquette?

Normally your friends on the DIS will send you the boo-ed character or other things they have received from their friends. Just wait patiently and you'll get something.

I had tags and then cleaned up my stuff and somehow I lost mine....so I'm hoping I'll think of something really cleaver soon that will land me a gift from the lovely tag fairy....ya just never know who they will choose or when it will happen!
