Does anyone else get a case of TAE (Towel Animal Envy) when reading reviews and seeing someone getting towel animals seemingly left and right? ;)

I've been thinking about this because I'm always reading resort reviews and someone will mention that they received many towel animals. We've only received a washcloth duck once on our first visit at the CR. We were so excited. Now we know and understand that towel animals are not to be expected and that by far does not make or break our trip. We are perfectly thrilled just to be at the world. But I do have to say we tip religiously to mousekeeping and there is much excitement on the way back to the room to see "Did we get one!?" Many have mentioned towel animals at AKL... we did not. POFQ.. nope. I think we have a knack for getting just the section that has a mousekeeper not into the towel animals.

Next year it's a Wonder cruise and back to the CR... hopefully there is a "towel critter" waiting for us at least once this next trip or I'll have to continue living vicariously through the towel animal reports on the DIS.

Go on the Disney Cruise Line- you are guaranteed to get towel animals every night!!

I like towel animals and everything- they are a nice touch, but I don't go running back to my room in anticipation every day. There are much more interesting things to get excited about at WDW than a folded washcloth IMHO. -Steph

Totally agree! They are just fun. I'm just making fun of our uncanny ability to not get them... ;) wondering if we are the only ones.

I love the towel animals and do get excited about whether I got one. I have stayed several times on property and only once got one and that was at CBR.

landmark, here's hoping that during your trip you get a great towel animal, and not just a little one made out of a small washcloth, but one of those multi-towel ones that others have posted (think I remember reading something about a hanging monkey or an elephant or a whole family of somethings):Pinkbounc :bounce:

We've never had one at all. Doesn't really bother us. (No kids - just two adults.)

Last trip we bought stuffed Goofy as ToT bellhop, Mickey as POC, Ice Gator from BB, Big Al from Country Bears, etc. - you get the picture.

Anyhow, a few times they positioned them in cute poses. At AKL they were all on the bed with AKL stationary and pen, 'writing' a letter. Also, they were watching TV when we came back another day.

I kind of think that's cuter than some of the towel animals, but if we ever get one, maybe I'll really like that too.

Just got back from CBR and we got three on three different days.....
turtle. elephant and I "think" an armadillo. 2 Adults and no kids but
we loved them.......it seems the theme at CBR is to proudly display
your towel prizes in the window for public viewing during the day!!
Two of the above got to ride on a plane as well....if you know what I mean!!

My two kids have had their stuffed animals placed in funny positions by housekeeping at Wilderness Lodge. They LOVED to see what the animals were up two whenever we returned to our room. Once, they were reading a book together and the "reader" was wearing my glasses. Once, an extra sheet "rope" was hanging from the top bunk to the floor. A few animals were peeking over the top while two were hanging onto the rope, as if they were climbing up. One time, the woman came to clean as we were heading out to the pool. When we returned, she had built a "waterslide" on the pillow of the queen bed. She took rolled towels and placed them down the pillow to make the slide, then formed a circular "pool" at the bottom that was even lined with a light blue plastic bag - to look like water! Then, she put a stuffed animal on the slide and some in the pool. The kids were thrilled!

This was two years ago. When we went this past summer, there were no animal "scenes." The kids were a bit disappointed but it didn't bother them too much. The last day we were there, my husband pretended to forget something in the room and set up a scene for the kids to find. They thought it was great - they thought the housekeeping woman was just too busy to do it all week - and finally had a chance to set one up.

I guess it just depends on who takes care of your room and how busy they are.

We just got back today from an 8-night stay at the Poly and we didn't get any towel animals but I wasn't expecting any either.

However, 2 days when we came back to the room my DD's stuffed Baby Disney characters (Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Pooh, Eeyore) were posed on the bed. One time sitting in a circle and another time sitting on a stack of pillows.

I had it (TAE) until our latest trip to WL. Our mousekeeper left us one daily and we (2 adults) thought it was great!!

I am no longer a towel animal virgin! I got my first 2 towel animals at WL when I was there with my husband earlier this month. I was SO excited-- my DH had never seen me so excited over washcloths before. :teeth:

I'm hoping that I'll get more when I'm there in Dec or Jan, but realize that there's a good chance that I won't since it took year to get some.

I get it. I had them my very first year when I was at CB, but since I've stayed at the AK, WL, and CR and haven't seen any :( I o3wuld love to have them again. They are so cute!!!

Nope, never had a case of towel animal envy and don't think I ever will. My vacations are always magical there even without. Come to think of it maybe we did get one and just never realized it. I never give it any thought.

We were very spoiled on our cruise on the magic...a whole towel animal menagerie! The only resort we've ever gotten them at was at WL. For our upcoming trip, my DD is planning on bringing her build a bear bear ( ) dressed as Tinkerbell. Hopefully the Mousekeepers will do something with her!

After reading these boards, I told my family about the towel animals and made sure the kids brought stuffed animals, and even props (sunglasses, books, etc) for the Mousekeepers to have fun with. We left a tip every day. Never did we get an animal, nor did we find anything special done with the stuffed animals. Now my family thinks I'm nuts. So yes, I do have TAE, if only to clear my nutty reputation.

:sunny: My daughter got married at Disneyworld in 2001, we were staying at AKL and when we got back to our room there was a huge elephant on the bed made out of pillows, towels and washcloths complete with a comical face and my wedding hat on it's head! it made us laugh,
this year also at the AKL I had "my pal Mickey" with me, when we returned to our Savannah view room, he was sitting on the bed with the animal guide on his knee, looking out at the savannah, (trying to identify the animals no doubt).
On another occasion we returned to find Mickey sitting watching the DISNEY channel, with the remote control in his hand.
Although we are two adults it still makes us smile. :wave2:
