Taco bar at graduation party?

They are very popular and common. They serve them at school, and we have vendors that sell Walking Tacos at sports tourneys, craft fairs, local festivals etc. Why is it any different than a taco? It's still the same ingredients?

Yeah, they're pretty popular. And delicious! DH first fell in love with them when they served them as school lunch. They've been around for a while.

There's always going to be one person who will only eat chicken nuggets, but I kind of figure that's their problem, not mine. Taco Bell isn't exactly a quaint little mom & pop shop. Most people are more than happy to eat Americanized Mexican food.

I can not stand doritos-they smell like stinky sneakers to me. I just cant see having a party and having people walking around eating a meal out of a doritos bag-just not my thing even at the most casual party! I have never been anyplace they served that and they certainly would never ever serve that in our schools-just the doritos alone would not pass the "healthy choice" guidelines.

"Walking tacos":confused3 never heard of it. I wouldn't serve that to adults, but I will keep it in mind this summer when my middle school aged boys have friends over!

I went to a Mexican themed backyard party last year. In addition to the normal taco shells, ground beef and fixings, rice, refried beans the host also had

grilled sliced steak
grilled sliced chicken breasts
flour tortillas
grilled peppers and onions

You could make a fajita with them if you wanted to. Her inlaws didn't eat Mexican so many of them just ate the sliced meats on a plate, rice and made a salad out of the fixings. So it worked for everyone.

I thought that walking tacos originated in PA but apparently it is more of a Midwestern thing. Anyway around us everyone knows what a walking taco is and they are very popular. I personally think that it is a great idea for a graduation party. Graduation parties are generally fairly casual but usually involve a lot of food (people definitely expect to get food at a graduation party and the expectation is that the guests give money in a card). I think that you are fine doing the taco bar and then maybe having like a fruit salad or something like that along with cupcakes or graduation cake. I don't normally cater to different people's diets unless they are for religious or allergy reasons. Good grief who can keep up with all the passing fad diets and who eats what.
