I posted about this wedding about a month ago. Here is the update.

I got a invitation mailed to me and a Facebook invitation. The Facebook invitation went to over 400 people. He also sent out an email to over 100 people, some are the same.

What made it tacky was inside the invitation was a typed piece of paper saying..."your presence is enough but since we are moving and all household good will be packed up before the wedding we can not transport gifts across the country. A gift of cash would be appreciated. That was also on the email and the Facebook invite.

The wedding was supposed to be at a chapel and then back to his house to have the party outside but it's going to be cold, windy and rainy so we got a Facebook update that said it's been changed to a banquet room. "INVITATION ONLY"

So who is invited? The people that got the paper mailed invites or everyone he invited? That is hundreds of people. I know that many won't go but still.

Too add another layer of fun to this. I got a message yesterday. The day before the wedding on where else....Facebook from the groom asking me if I was coming to the wedding (we had already called to RSVP) and would I take pictures at the wedding and the reception. I responded that I would be happy to take pictures but I am not a wedding photographer by any means. I have a really nice camera, great lens and I will be able to take nice pictures but I was planing on being a guest at the wedding and I have no experience with posing people.

No response. I have no idea if he is thinking that I am going to act as wedding photographer but I am not planing on it. I will take the kinds of pictures that I normally take.

They are roasting a pig, I better eat before I go!

Are you sure it's not some sort of elaborate April Fools Joke. :lmao: What a mess!

I can't imagine inviting 400 people to a wedding reception that will be held outside in my yard.

We want a "trip report" tomorrow :lmao:

I do have to say that a roasted pig is VERY GOOD.

I went to middle and high schools in a small southern town and every newspaper would have engagement announcements that would end with "All friends and family are invited."

I thought it was a joke too and I would LOVE it if it was but it's not. People are flying in for the wedding and that would just be going too far. It was also in our local newspaper.

I don't have to deal with that whole cash thing now. Do I give it or not and how much. I am taking pictures. That should get me off the hook.

The thing that is making this all so interesting is I saw him right after they announced that they were getting married, that was about a month ago. I asked him how many people he was having and he said around 50. :rotfl:

I am really looking forward to it there are going to be a lot of friends there.

I will let you all know how it goes!

No don't roasted pig is very, very good! haven't had one in ages but I am jealous.

Only thing I would worry about with this group is that they got in on in time. It takes a long time to roast the pig, like easily all day. So on second thought with this group maybe you should eat first or else be the first thru the line so you get the outer layer of the pig.

This is what I was thinking.

And, nothing like getting your wedding photographer at the last minute. LOL

I am thinking I need to subscribe to this thread because I have to hear about it. I might eat a little first in case there is not enough roasted pig to feed these 400 facebook friends :rotfl:

I have heard lots of wedding stories in the CB, and most I feel like "whatever, it's their special day", but this one sounds particularly special ;)

The last wedding I attended sounded very much like this one. The young couple sent invitations to around 200 people, PLUS invited 400 people on Facebook. I'm not sure how many of the 400 FB friends also received paper invitations, but I did not get an invitation on FB.

Only around 50 people showed up for the wedding, most of them being family. I was very surprised, since I expected several hundred people to attend. I'm curious to hear how many people attend the wedding tonight.

Since they asked you to photograph the wedding, the pictures would be my gift to them. :)

This is gonna be interesting!! :rotfl:

Can't wait to see some of the candid shots of what this looked like!
