Does anyone have a Tablet Notebook/PC they'd recommend?

If so, please also share what is a must or what you found you got on it that wasn't really needed.

Thanks so much...

Sorry, I didn't see you were specifically looking for "Tablet", but this is what I saw yesterday for a great bargain.

We were in American TV and Appliances, which is located in the Midwest, Wisconsin, Michigan Iowa and they are trying to get rid of the Sony "Pink" Viao laptop for $900. They said it just didn't go over. It includes an operating system Vista-which I am not to crazy about, speakers, a carrying case, a cooling pad, built in camera, 2 gig-which is huge for a laptop. An external memory, which is only $20, but still included. I came home and went on the internet and others stores are trying to dump these computers. So if you don't mind pink-it is a great bargain for a Sony. These usually run in the $1200-$1400 range.

Not sure if this qualifies as a Tablet, but do a google search for ASUS EEE PC.

I have the Gateway CX210X Convertible Notebook - my DH gave it to me for Christmas 2006 - so it's almost 1 1/2 years old.

I love it! He bought it just before the release of Vista, so I got a coupon to upgrade for free, but decided to stick with the original operating system - Windows Tablet - which is like Windows XP pro with the addition of the tablet software controllers.

I did have a few issues with it last year under warranty - the DVD-RW drive died on me - and they kept sending me the wrong replacement - you'd think they would know the size of the bay!

The other thing I had a little trouble with was the pen - I think it has its own rechargeable battery inside - but it would die after about 10 minutes, and wouldn't work again till the next day. They sent me a replacement in August, and it's been fine ever since.

It came with tablet specific software - Windows Journal and a bunch of tablet applications - some for education and some general. (I am a teacher - and love the math program - I can write out the math equations for my tests on the tablet, and it will convert them into printed text!

I also like that it came with Hexic and Windows Crossword installed - gives me hours of enjoyment on the plane when I can't access my online games!

While I don't think that Gateway sells this specific model anymore - I think they do have a replacement.

One caveat - my husband bought me the big old battery - which acts as a great handhold for the tablet - but it does make it heavy.

An update....I was so impressed with the reviews for this little laptop, I ordered one from Amazon for $299 with free shipping. Not having to carry a separate laptop bag will help while travelling.:thumbsup2
