Hello All,

After reading the thread and viewing the Poll on use of the TIW card over Disney Dining Plan, I am interested in getting the TIW card for our visit in early Feb. I read something about getting the card 30 days in advance of the trip. I was going to purchase the Annual Pass for my wife and I when we arrive. Do I need to purchase the annual pass now, so I can get the TIW card before our stay ?? I understand that the annual pass does not activate until we actually pick it up and use it and expires one year from that date.

Any input would be appreciated.

I thought I read something about having to wait for the card. My original plan was to purchase both the day I arrive at WDW. If I can do that, then I am cool.

It used to be that you had to purchase it prior but for the last few years you are able to purchase it immediately at Guest Services.

We bought our TIW card when we bought our APs at DTD Guest Services.

Actually i can't wait till next year when you don't even need to by an AP to get TIW

When does it go into effect that we don't have to purchase an AP to get the TIW card? Will I be able to purchse for our trip end of March 2012 w/o an AP. Already got great deal on hoppers from UT.

Just bumping this as I'm wondering when this goes into effect as well. We're headed down in April, and would love to try TIW.

I am going to try calling today as we will be down in January and currently have reservations for V&A.

They said at the December meeting that it is coming but they did not specify when. Let's hope it is not like prior announcements of things coming, such as on-line booking which was first announced as coming soon about 5 years ago. One may wonder why it is that anything good always takes DVD a long time to get it going but anything bad. like taking away valet parking, is done so fast that it is not even announced until a week after it has happened.

No one had a clue. Talked to DVC and they forwarded me to another WDW number which had me stuck in voicemail hell. I finally got a hold of someone and they redirected me to DVC. So...
