DH and I have decided on getting the TIW card, so where do I go to buy, I am APH and FL. Resident so I know that I qualify for it. A friend told me I can only purchase at MK Guest services? True or False?

I am hoping that we could go to DS (DTD) to guest service to pick up? As we are having dinner there soon, I was hoping I don't have to go into a the park to get it.

Any suggestions or tips for using it. pixiedust:

Thanks in advance...:D

You can buy them at the guest relations in any park, as well as Downtown Disney.

As far as tips for using it, just be sure to check to see that a restaurant takes it online first. The majority do, but there are a few exceptions. There are also several quick services that take it so its to your advantage to always check.

Hope you enjoy the card. We wouldn't do Disney without it. With our last one we saved well over $500.

Also, be aware that there are general blackout dates for all restaurants (major holidays), and also additional blackout dates for certain more popular restaurants. Check the website for more info.

I bought mine at the Guest Services window near DisneyQuest - it was quick and easy.
Remember that (for the most part), whomever's name is on the TiW card must pay. We've had a few places accept DHs credit card, while my name is on the TiW card, but most of them require mine. Some of them require ID as well.

I've called Disney and they mailed it to me. I also purchased it at Guest Services in Downtown Disney. Just remember it does not expire after first use like AP's, it expires when you buy it. I buy mine in the beginning of Nov and it expires in Dec.

I have even renewed my AP in person and then purchase my TiW in one shot. Don't forget even if you have a DDP you can still use your TiW card - we do it all the time especially if we are having a nice adult beverage with our food

I got ours in January for the first time. I've just made myself get in the habit of asking about TIW and passholder discounts everywhere. I like it covers everything no like the dining plan and the initial cost of ours was paid back very quickly. I got ours at MK guest services but my understanding is you can get it at the same places you'd get tickets including disney springs. I only wish both the TIW and the passholder discount availability would show up when using the magic bands because it still means having to always bring the magic band, photo id, the passholder card, and the tiw card (which is paper...ugh). I dream for the day I can throw on my magic band, put a few ibuprofen in my pocket and just go lol.

The paper card drives me crazy! What can't they upgrade to a plastic. I always end up having to have them reprint it because it eventually gets worn adn stops working.....

We are on our third TIW card. We qualify as DVC members and always get ours at the guest services in the marketplace at DS. We use it all the time because we mainly go to signature restaurants for dinner and it is especially helpful for alcohol. A 40 bottle of wine quickly becomes 32. Also you can use it at a lot of lounges and bars. We get the card in my name but usually use my husbands credit card which has never been an issue. I have never been asked for ID although it seems others have. And when I was sick last year my husband took our kids out to two dinners without me and used it without a problem but again I know others may have had issues. My only disappointment is that The Boathouse doesn't take it but you can use your DVC card for 10% discount on all food.

The TWI is in my name and i always give it to my husband to use without any problem. This is our 4th year purchasing it and it saves us a lot, but we spend a lot of time in the lounges :rolleyes1

I'm told you can request a hard plastic card over the phone and they'll mail it to you.

Good to know...I'm going to try that. I hated it when the annual passes were paper cards...all it took was one summer of typical FL rain and it was toast.

We have had it for several years, but will not renew when this one expires. A number of restaurants no longer participate and some are now only accepting it for lunch. You really need to look at the list of participating restaurants and weigh that against the cost and see if it will work for you. Also keep in mind that they automatically add an 18% gratuity to all bills, even if you only order a beer at a lounge. While we usually tip closer to 20% for meals, you cannot tip less than 18% for poor service, at least not without causing a big fuss.
