We are going in November and will be purchasing the Tables in Wonderland discount card.

Does the card expire 12/13 months after purchase or after first use?

I want to be able to use the early signup available for the Food and Wine events, but not sure if getting the early time is worth giving up 5 months of use. Is it that important?

It's clock starts when you buy it. It's not like buying a voucher, such as when you buy an AP, that waits and sort of lies dormant until you use it.

If you will be able to use it for the 5 months you are losing then wait. I believe the only thing you can book early with it is the beverage and culinary seminars. Not worth it IMHO.

I'm assuming you already have an AP or are a Florida resident, if you have an AP you are going to be able to get the same discounts and will be able to book early, might be a little later than TIW (haven't had one in years) but it is a tad earlier than the general date.

I am a DVC member, so I get the discount.

Just trying to think of losing out on a possible opportunity to travel next fall with TIW vs having the early booking time is worth it.

I am not sure how fast things book up.

I am not sure the early sign up is worth it. It really depends on what you want to attend and how much you will use TIW for discounts on meals. IIRC, the demo/seminars are the only early sign up, not the pairings at the restaurants. (Not sure about the Party for the Senses). Others, please correct me if I'm right!!!

Also, only a limited number of seats for the demo/seminars are released early. We were not able to book seminars on the early release morning, but secured spots when they opened to the general public.

Last year I was able to book a few of the demos/seminars (deminars) and the med. meal with wine pairing at Spice Road on the AP advance day. I think most of those meals were bookable, not sure about the ones at the resorts.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think buying it early in the month is the way to go (on 8/1, for example). That's how you get 13 months out of it. So if I buy 8/1 it expires at the end of the following August instead of 8/1.
You'll always get 13 months out of it. Purchasing early in the month gets you close to 14 months. Buying anytime in August gives you an expiration at the end of the next month next year, 9/30.

Thanks for the clarification

You get the same early booking opportunity as a DVC member that you would get with TIW. If that is your only reason to purchase it now I say you are better off waiting. The only thing that gets you an earlier booking opportunity is the Disney Chase Visa Card. TIW, AP & DVC early bookings have all opened on the same day which is a couple of days earlier than the general public and a day or two after the Chase Disney Visa booking.

Now, if you QUALIFY for a card? EMAIL or CALL these folks. For over 12 years, these folks have WORKED with us to maximize our usage. They have suggested that we WAIT to BUY until a certain date, to insure we get max usage out of our card for our NEXT trip.

These folks are wonderful. TALK to them. They really REALLY want you to win. They will NOT screw you over to "make money". Yes, at first, WE were also shocked. PLEASE contact them.... 12 years of experience says that THIS WDW branch is TOTALLY honest, and helpful.

Does this fine print from TiW website mean that a membership can't get you a discount on food booths at F&W? Or, is it just referring to festival events?
"Tables in Wonderland is not valid toward Chef’s Tables at Disney Signature Restaurants, Fantasmic Dinner Packages, Food and Wine Festival events, Candlelight Packages, or any other Special Dining Package Events."

No discounts at F & W booths. The only discount during F & W is $2 off the $17 Seminars & Culinary Demos Monday through Thursday only.

Not always. I bought mine at the MK and I got exactly 366 days. It expired one year from the day we bought it.

They did it wrong.
No, the TIW card is only good for one year. They just used to extend it when you bought it over the phone to cover the time you lost in the transition. Technically it only has one year.

I bought ours at the MK on January 23, 2017 and it expires on February 28, 2018. That's consistent with the other two times we purchased it.
