Just a quick question about TIW:

I'm trying to figure out if it makes sense to buy the card before we leave on vacation (for convenience, so I don't have to waste time buying it once we get to FL). How does the expiration date work? Does the expiration period begin on the day the card is purchased or on the date of first use? If it begins when purchase I would wait until we arrive in FL to buy it, but if it's first use I'd rather take care of it ahead of time.

Usually expires in 13 months from purchase - ie. if purchased in Feb 11 expires March 12.

I actually figured the same as you did (better to buy in advance). When I called, they told me that if I was going to be in the area within the next few weeks, I should just do it once I got to WDW, since the would normally mail your card to you, and processing time can take up to 6(!) weeks. Since I planned to use it the next weekend, I just went to Guest Services at the park and signed up - took less than 10 minutes

it starts day of purchase, you can get it at any of the entrances to the parks. We made sure we waited until we got down to disney to buy ours....more for the money

One advantage to doing by mail is that they will send you a laminated card vs. the paper you get at the parks.

We purchased ours and redeemed our annual passes all at once...I think it took less then 15 minutes.....Happy Feasting!
