Tables In Wonderland Question

When I get to WDW on this Dec. 8th, I am going to upgrade my 7 day park hopper to an annual pass, and buy the Tables in Wonderland card at the same time. I have no problems with this, as I have already asked all my questions.

However ... I had just noticed a link right here on The DIS, that is specially for making dining reservations using the Tables In Wonderland Dining Card.

Now ... For my upcoming December trip, I have already had all my dining reservations already done - long before I was ever even thinking of getting this card. I did not make any of these reservations through the official TIW plan.

Can I still use this card with all those pre-existing reservations??
Do I just mention the card as I order my food??

Thanks for all your help !

I hope so, since I am in the same boat with all my reservations booked but I won't have the card until I go next time and didn't even know there were separate reservations. As for telling them I wasn't planning on doing so until I got the check just in case they consider their tip already earned before treating us well. :rolleyes1:

We used it on existing ADR's. Just tell your server that you will be using it when you order. It was never an issue!

Just used it 2 weeks ago. Used on existing reservations. Each server asked "Are you on any dining plan?" we just answered we have TIW and they said "Fine." Only once out of 5 dinners did we actually have to show our drivers license with the TIW at Citricos.

Your TIW card has nothing to do with making dinner reservations, so it won't matter with your ADRs. We have been members of Disney Dining/TIW for years and I have never used our membership to make regular reservations. Where was the link you saw here on disboards?

We have never shown our card until the check is presented. The server then takes the card and credit card to ring up the discount (after a manager signs off). For some reason they always need a manager to okay the card at the register.

This was exactly our experience during our 7-day trip in September. We used the card at least once every day.

TIW is not a dining plan. You do not have to mention it when they ask if you are on a dining plan. They ask because is IS relevant for them to know before you order if you are on a prepaid dining plan. You can say "No, I am not on a dining plan." You can also present your TIW card when you get the check. I usually put it and the credit card for payment in the folder. Some think that it is easier for the server if you tell them you have the TIW before you order. However, they still need to have a manager approve the discount, and they don't do that until after the full bill is in or they'd have to get the manager multiple times if the party should order something else, so I do not see that it is actually easier.

There is a story that a manager must approve the discount because some servers were misusing the discount and putting it in for their friends, without a membership card being presented. Therefore all TIW discounts now require manager approval. (I think the only exception is CS, but TIW is good at very few CS places, and there you obviously have to present it when you order).

There is no special procedure for making reservations if you have a TIW card. There is absolutely no reason why anyone needs to know at the reservation stage that you have a TIW membership. There is also no separate system by which TIW members make reservations.

Agree with everyting pp said -- except that when I book a pre-paid dinner, like Hoop Dee Doo, I use the TIW up front for the discount off the 9:30 show.

Thank You Everyone !!!

I do now feel much better !!!

The link I found for TIW reservations on here was
Dining / Tables in Wonderland.
The Link was on the top of the TIW information page.

If you mean http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneydiningexperience.htm

the E mail at the top of the page,

You cannot make regular restaurant reservations by sending to that e-mail.

However, you WOULD use that e-mail if you wanted to make reservations for a special TIW event such as the dinner in the Great Movie Ride they have sometimes.

This is the section, and link that I was questioning:

Tables in Wonderland
•Disney World Restaurant Menus

For reservations, email WDW.Tables.In.Wonderland@disney.com.Tables in Wonderland (TIW), formerly the Disney Dining Experience, offers Florida Residents and Annual Passholders 20% off of all food and beverage purchases at the participating Disney restaurants. It is a membership program with annual fees.

The price is $75.00 for an Annual Passholder, $50.00 for a second card. For a Florida Resident who is not an Annual/Seasonal Passholder, the cost is $100.00. It is $50.00 for lost/replacement cards.

The TIW Card can be purchased at any Disney Guest Services location. Annual Passholders and/or Florida Residents need to provide proof of eligibility. Note that TIW membership requires that you be age 21 or older.

Exactly what I said in the previous post. You cannot use that email to make regular restaurant reservations. However, you would use it if you want to reserve any of the special event dinners sometimes given for TIW members.
