Tables in Wonderland (CM's often clueless)

Just back from a week's stay in WDW. I found at least 40-50% of CM's totally unknowledgeable about Tables In Wonderland dining discount.

I got perplexed looks.....CM's asking other CM's what it was.......CM's telling me it's "only for sit down restaurants" etc. It got annoying all week because there were times I was holding up a line because the CM's didn't know how to apply the discount or debated with me that it was even allowed to be used at whatever place I was. We got this even when it was the Disney Dining Experience. They all know the DDP, but not as familiar with TIW. Anyone else experience this. I was thinking of emailing Guest Services about it.

No, we've never run into a server who didn't know what DDE is...same with TiW because most will laugh about that name with us. Our cards are still DDE though.

So you had trouble at QS at Pop and Artist Palette? I can imagine CMs there do not see it as often since for the most part, it is only good at TS restaurants.

No you can use it a some CS places. The first place that comes to mind is Flame Tree BBQ at AK.

Yes, I know. I said for the most part.;)

When we were at LeCellier in Sept, we had a CM who told us they now call it the 'T-dub' card. But, most CMs I used it with had no issue with it at all.
I have used it at POP for awhile now...never a problem. Well, not if you discount the over zealous CM at the register who asked to see my ID. I showed her my room key..nope, not good enough. She wanted to see my license!! Ah...I don't normally carry my license with me to get breakfast at the food court. She told me someone could have found my wallet and taken my room key and my DDE card and used it.....:confused3 !

T-dub! :rotfl: Hadn't heard that one.

I hope they revert to the original name or any name that fits the program better.

We just got back and used the TiW card for the first time- we never had a problem at all, even when using at the Food Court at ASMo. Even when I asked at places that didn't take the card (doesn't hurt to try), they still seemed to know what it was...

I experienced the same thing in November at Boatwrights at POR. Had no problems anywhere else though.

We've been using it for years and have never had a problem with any CM not knowing what it was for. However, we were asked for an ID every time we've used it at Pop Century.

BTW--we were told my a CM that some of them call it "T-mad". Because it has a picture of the madhatter on it??? We still call it the dining discount card.

We still refer to ours as the DDE card and have never had a problem using it.

The only real problem I have had (and I have had a card since they were made available to annual passholders) was the Victoria Falls bar in AKL refusing to accept it. They knew what it was, I think they just didn't want to have to go downstairs to get a manager to approve the discount.

I don't drink there now. If I want a drink at AKL I use the small bar at Jiko, where they don't ever give me crap about TIW.

Yeah Pop is pretty anal about accepting it. If it was up to them, the TiW would come with a photo and then you'd still have to show ID.:headache:

As for CMs not being aware of it, maybe they were the new batch of CPs? I was at WDW in early December and again late January, and I noticed many instances of less than knowledgeable CMs, and they all were wearing college name plates. They'll be up to speed soon.

we had only one issue with DDE card when they first came out and All Star wanted me to show them my florida license.......we are AP's ....so they went and got a manager and straightened it out....
We were in All Star in May and Pop In September and we had no issues with it.....
I do love using it and saving money especially with three trips on this card

My card does not have the Mad Hatter on it....I have one with Alice ?

Places I had trouble with CM's being very unsure this past week :
POP food court (twice)
Flame Tree BBQ
Pinnochio's in the MK (they didn't accept it, but at the time when I asked, I wasn't sure. And neither were two of the CM's that were trying to figure it out. The one finally said, "no...it's only at TS restaurants". Which obviously this is not true & I told her so.
Artist Pallette

Last year with DDE :
Trail's End
Beaches and Cream
Sassagoula Food Court
POP

Of course, I had times where it was not a problem, but this was always at TS restaurants (the Wave, Sci Fi, Boma, Biergarten). And to add......POP was the only one who asked for my ID and this was AFTER they were totally clueless about even accepting it. Then, insult upon injury, they ask for my license (which I did not have). I showed them my room key and a major credit card. They did not push the issue because they could see I was a bit miffed.

Anyway....was just curious if anyone else had any issues. Thanks to all who shared their experiences.

Maria

We used it in January at a lot of different places, mostly TS, but a few CS. They want to see a driver's license to make sure it is your card, not because they care about it being from FL. (I was warned about this when we purchased it.) I wasn't asked for one everywhere, but I was asked at enough places that I started handing my DL with my TiW card to the server.

We never had trouble using it, but we did have to call it by both names a lot. We ran into a handful of CMs who still called it the DDE and had no idea what TiW was. It still says DDE on the computer system, at least at some places, which adds to the confusion.

I too have never had an issue with using DDE at TS meals. Except that the waiter at Tusker House who's service was less than stellar folded up my receipt and gave me the slip to sign I believe hoping I would tip him more than the already added 18%.

I too have been asked for an ID at Pop and was once told it was expired when it wasn't with no apology when I corrected them.

We have had the card since the very beginning when it was made available and never once had an issue! That's so weird. I wonder if there is a lot of restaurant staff turnover and thus the confusion/lack of knowledge.
