I am purchasing the QSDP for my family this summer....but I had planned on 6 of us dining at The Sci-fi Dine In, The Crystal Palace, Cape May Cafe for dinner and the 1 night my husband and I at the Contemporary Cafe.....

In my research it appears that most of the restaurants that I have made reservations for do not take the TIW discount card.... I dont know why but I thought every restaurant did (really? only H&V at DHS?) and now I am wondering if it will be worth it to purchase the card.

I am going back with a girlfriend for 4 nights in October (dont think we will be doing any sitdowns) and then again for 1 night pre-cruise next February (definitely at least 1 and probably 2 sitdowns).

What do you think?

I don't know what you are looking at in your research, but all the restaurants you named take TIW. (I am not sure what the Contemporary Cafe is. There is no restaurant by that name at the Contemporary resort. If you mean the counterservice, that does not take TIW). And by no means is it just H&V at the Studios. All the Studios TS accept it.

The break-even is $375 in eligible food/beverage items for an annual passholder membership.

I used my TIW just recently at Sci Fi/Lecellier/Kona/most table service restaraunts take it...most counter service do not (there are a few exceptions, but when you get your card holder, there is a little booklet that will list all participating spots)..for instance we had a hankering for a Harp and some fish and chips In UK at Epcot, so instead of going to the Fish and Chips stand(which does not take it)..we went inside had a delicious lunch and a few cold ones, all under TIW....I really am happy with it

That is a lot of TS meals to pay OOP for. Have you considered upgrading to the regular DDP so you would get TS meals included with the plan? It may be more cost effective than buying the TIW card and/or paying OOP.

I'm thinking you may be looking at AP discounts and not TiW discounts. The passholder dining discounts page is quite misleading, but only that first paragraph is about TiW, the rest is about AP discounts.

Yes yes yes and yes!

Awful page unless you're paying abnormally close attention to bolding and spacing and indentations and all of that.

The breakeven point is $375 in food and drink at participating restaurants (for the AP holder cost of $75). We hit that with 3 people in less than 10 meals. Even though we shared sometimes.

First of all you said you are purchasing Quick Service dining and not Table Service. Quick Service is only for Counter Service Restaraunts not Table Service which is all of the restaraunts you listed.
Tables in Wonderland only works for most Table Services within the entire resort area witha few exceptions and its only available if you are an AP holder

Sorry for all the confusion. I meant the California Grill not the Contemporary Cafe.

The page I was looking at is http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/passholder-program/dining-discounts/

We are 6 adults and will be there for 6 full days in our 5 night stay so I thought paying OOP for 3 or 4 sitdowns would work very well as I dont see 2 QS meals a day being enough for the big eaters in our group.

I am planning on purchasing one annual pass for myself when we get there.

Thank you all for your help.

I believe I would easily spend $375.....in 2 meals!!! Thanks.

Yep, those are the annual passholder discounts, not the TIW list. Any annual passholder can get those discounts.

We do not want to be tied to too many reservations this trip. Last trip (2009) it just became too much for us. We have older teens and sometimes we were in 3 different parks at the same time and between the buses and monorails etc....it was nuts.
Plus one you figure in the appetizers that my men need to have ;) the fact that we dont really eat dessert (and are antsy to get moving at that point) and the tip...no it is not for us.

I figured on a sitdown meal the night we arrive, a sitdown breakfast the morning we are leaving, a romantic meal for my hubby and me and then the Sci-Fi for lunch simply because the kids havent been in there in 9 years...

Or toss in some indentations or something. This page gets SO many people; possibly one per week, I'd say. And that's just the people who post about it...
