Hope this is the best place to ask about this. We have AP's and are considering getting TIW. Can you use both and would it be beneficial? Our vaca centers around dining experiences. We are two weeks out from heading to Fl from Or and I am extremely excited!!

You can't use them discounts at the same time.

You need to look at the places you'll dine, evaluate if the savings on alcohol with tiw will make a difference, and work out the numbers for your planned trips.

I love my wine and what I call lovely "foo foo frilly" drinks. So maybe TIW for our meals and AP for shopping etc.

I've always had both. They recently upped the AP discounts, but I believe that may be temporary? Bottom line, the TIW discounts are for the most part more wide-spread and include alcohol. Yes, I use AP for shopping discounts, but for eating, I find TIW to be a better deal.

We just got AP's and also have TIW. During our first trip in November with both........we tended to use the TIW when alcohol was involved........because we had a party of 6 the savings were considerable. A couple of times we did use our AP discount for a meal........but more at QS locations.....yes there are a few :) The AP discount at the stores was really nice. We actually saved enough to payoff the TIW card on that first visit. Now for the next 2 visits (2 at a minimum :) ) all the discounts are gravy. But you do have to run the #'s. It worked out well because of the size of our party in November.........

As was previously said, the only way to know your best deal is to sit down and do the math. If all your dining places are covered by the AP 20% discount, and you won't drink $750 in booze, than TIW is not a good deal.

On the other hand, if some of your restaurants are not included with the AP discount, you plan on doing a lot of drinking, and you like to valet park, than TIW is a goldmine.

this is the best advice, run the numbers. I've had the TIW when it was less but with the 20% AP discount this year didn't buy it. I now regret that because our trip last week was pretty alcohol heavy and we plan on going back in March for a longer trip, which will also be alcohol heavy so we would have easily have broke even early in that trip. I also found 2 out of our 4 TS restaurants only gave 10% AP discounts instead of the 20% so that was a bummer.

The break even point is about $750. If you are going to spend much more than that, it might be worth it. For us, not anymore. Especially with so many places currently giving 20% to AP holders. The alcohol is not covered under AP but only DH drinks and very often he's grabbing a beer when there isn't a discount anyway. lol
So keep in mind that you must spend at least 750 (round up to 800 just to cover for sure) then it isn't really worth the expense in my opinion. I kept a spread sheet tracking the discounts and this will be the last year I buy into the program.

Indeed. Figure it out both ways. Remember, you will need an extra $150 in savings to break even on TIW. That could mean $750 of booze, a lot of restaurants that don't offer AP (or 10% AP) discount, or some combination of the two.

For us TIW is a no brainer, but we hit the Disney bars nearly once a week.

THIS.

You can use one or the other.

Def look at where you want to eat to see if it is on the AP Discount and how much it is for (10 vs 20%). As an AP holder I think it's a great perk BUT my TiW gives me way more options and applies to alcohol. For now I have both and will be doing some math to see if I let TiW expire until fall.

I definitely will check the newer AP discounts! The Valet would be beneficial because the first month we are there we will be off property. We are there a total of 46 days so I can see easily at least breaking even.
