We are at Pop right now and I'm looking for some place for dinner later in the week. I'd like to take a cab but would prefer to keep cost down. What are some table service restaurants close to pop. We don't want to do AKL.

We took a cab from flying fish at boardwalk the other night and it was pretty inexpensive so I can look around there but wondering if there are others I should consider.

Shutters at Caribbean Beach Resort is close to POP, although I have not idea what the food is like.

the closest table service to Pop Century would be Shutters at Caribbean Beach Resort. Not sure anybody's going to a lot of effort to get there.

If you're looking for a signature then you won't get much closer than Flying Fish. If you're not on the dining plan there are a few upscale restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin. Downtown Disney isn't all that far.

Why do you want it to be close by; travel time or cost? If you're okay paying for a cab, or you have a car, then Shutters is the closest. But if your concern is expense, then grab a bus to the Magic Kingdom and hop on the monorail or boat to those area resorts. You could also bus to Hollywood Studios and walk to the Boardwalk, but it's a long walk.

I was originally looking into staying at CBR, so I looked at reviews and info about Shutters. They got a new chef approx. 2 years ago, and since then, people are saying the food is much better. It is also not much on the radar unless people are staying there, so you should be able to get in. I still might go there when we come down on vacation, because it sounded really good, and I've never had that kind of food before. If you're interested, you could ask over on the CBR thread for opinions.

If you don't want that, there is a TS place at CSR, which I believe is fairly close to you, but all I know is it's called Maya Grill. Also, if cab fare is getting to be too costly, catch the bus to DTD, then take a different bus to whatever resort you want. I've also heard Boatwright's at POR is pretty good.

Whatever you decide, have a good time! :goodvibes

I ate at Shutters on our first trip in 2005, it was the worst meal I've ever had at Disney. However, I've not been back since they got a new chef, so I guess it could have improved since then. I'd recommend taking the bus to DTD (or a cab) as it's not that far & there are a bunch of restaurants to choose from. My personal favorite is Wolfgang Puck Cafe, but I've heard lots of good things about the other restaurants there as well.

Does it have to be on the DDP or are you trying to stay in that price range?

If it doesn't have to be DDP, take a look at places like BlueZoo or Il Mullino. If a cab to/from the boardwlak area is an option and it must be DDP, it opens up the entire World Showcase via the International Gateway.

You can also take the bus to DHS and then walk or boat to the Boardwalk for dinner. Or, after dinner, walk or boat back to DHS and then take the bus back to Pop. If you use a park as your "bus hub," that opens up a lot more restaurant choices.
