Table Guests

Our last 3 day cruise was just DH, DD(11) and myself. They paired us with a fivesome who were friends w/a 15 year old son. I guess they figured the kids would be compatable, but they were in 2 different activity groups, and the son only showed up the first night. The other 2 couples were about 30 years older than us also.

The first night, everyone was friendly and we all chatted back and forth. But it quickly became evident how critical they were of everything.....2 of them had allergies to wheat, milk, citrus, and were vegetarians who could not be pleased by the hoops the servers jumped through.

The second night was awkward, and the third night was ....... Well, we saw some other dissers sitting at the next table who were having similar difficulties and wondered why we hadn't linked our ressies before the cruise!

But it was only 3 meals together. Had it been a 7 nighter, we probably would have done something.

Other than that, we had an awesome time!

On our first Disney cruise, during the inaugural sailings, we were a party of 3 and were seated with another party of 3 (each of us DW, DH, and DD). Our DD's were not compatable and neither were we with the couple. They were always bragging about all of their other cruises and putting down the Disney cruise in comparison.

The next Disney cruise (Eastern last Nov.) we were a party of 4 (brought along DD's friend) and we had a table alone. It was wonderful! Since dinner is the highlight of our day, and the time we all get together (doing separate things during the day), we like to be able to have a conversation with just us and talk about what we did and then we go our separate ways again afterward. We would feel restricted if we were with others and we treasure our time alone together.

But, if you get the right tablemates, I suppose it can be fun. Just not for us...;)
