Table for 4... for 3?

I have been searching for ADRs for 3 people. Recently, I mistakenly entered a party of 4 and found a Crystal Palace ADR that I wanted. When I changed my party to 3 it was not available. When I changed it back to 4 it was available again.

So I wonder are my attempted reservations for 3 being limited to tables for 3 (i.e. a 4-top with one side against a wall)? Is there a bug in the system? Is it unreasonable to book an ADR for 4 if you only have 3?

Anyone else run into something like this with an odd number of people?

I haven't done it, but I would say go ahead and book as a table of 4. Just tell them when you check in that one person couldn't make it.

That only works though if you are doing meals that you don't have to put a credit card down as a hold or pay for ahead of time. If you book 4 for someplace that asks for credit card info, then you will be charged a no show fee for that missing person.

yes, i had to book for 4 pp at Crystal Palace too..to get the time i want.
i have never done that before, but going by the suggestion i found on the DIS, .....it's not a problem when you arrive, unless it is a meal that requires a credit card..like CRT, then you will be charged the _no-show fee" for the 1 "person" you are missing.

Thanks for the responses. I absolutely booked it.

I am thinking it is some sort of bug in the system since I am seeing the same issue between 5/6 people reservations over the weekend.
