How does Disney handle it if you book a table for 4 people but only 3 actually show for your reservation?

This is incorrect. If 3 out of the 4 show up you will not be charged a no show fee. Just let the hostess know when you get there that there will only be 3 of you dining. If no one were to show up then you would be charged the no show fee.

If it's a prepaid meal (like CRT, the backyard BBQ, etc), you won't get a refund but for regular meals with the credit card hold, there won't be any penalty if only part of the group shows up.

Sorry...I was going on the assumption that this was a pre-paid meal where the policy is as I stated. I'm not sure why my brain went there.
