Table 95 is a Terrible Table Assignment on the Fantasy

You know, I have to give you major props for your winning attitude. I'm like you in that I do my darndest to avoid letting anything ruin my vacations!

This runs contrary to everything I've understood about how seating arrangements in the MDRs are handled.

All I can tell you is what Ive experienced. In the 9 cruises on magic and wonder we were at table 32. These tables were in the same place on each cruise.

Are you sayng they change the table numbers or that the table you get assigned changes?

We specifically requested thistable, and got it every time.....

We've noticed table numbers change locations at varying times. Had a great location on one cruise, so booked another cruise and requested and received the table number and the location was moved to a not so desirable area in the same vicinity.

I'm saying the table numbers change. Since every cruise has different seating requirements to match party sizes and such, the MDR tables are reconfigured to at least some extent to meet those needs. Once they start doing that, table numbers would have to change. Maybe certain table numbers are fixed--perhaps each section always starts with a certain number to help the staff keep them straight. Perhaps Table 32 is one of these. :confused3

How about this, The table numbers MAY change, don't expect the same table numbers to be in the same place as they MAY change. There do seem to be some tables that are installed into the floor. Specifically, I think I saw a pic of Animators not he Dream before they had the table cloths on it, where it was only 6 tops that are installed into the floor.

As for the private room, we had something similar on my first cruise on RC. There were three tables in this room, but it was hard to find and we felt really divided from the rest of the MDR.

On Disney, we usually get a table right on the main drag into the MDR. This was not true on our Dream cruise, but for the other cruises, it was. pirate:

Anyway, just wanted to give a heads up. We had Palo reservations on one RC night so we only had to eat dinner at that table twice. The rest of the time, we just joked about or wonderful "private room" & how lucky we were to get assigned there :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Eugh - sorry to hear this! If it helps at all, we were sort of shoved in a random corner of the room, as well, on our Dream cruise last year in both Enchanted Garden and RP. Since we ate in EG twice during the cruise, we actually mentioned the less-than-ideal location (couldn't see the Mickey fountain at all, and we were also right near an open server station, tucked right behind it) and asked about a move for Pirate night - the next time we'd be there. We said it really wasn't that big a deal, and if it meant having other servers to definitely not do it...and our servers were more than happy to accommodate us. I wonder if the less-than-ideal locations coincide with parties of younger adults with no children? Was definitely just a shame that we were totally tucked out of the way in terms of princess interaction at RP (we barely even noticed they were passing through!) and felt the same way in EG. But if it helps at all, we had enough fun on the cruise that your post is the only thing reminding me of our not-so-great table assignments!

Maybe the private room should be reserved for those who don't dress appropriately for dinner!:lmao:

All of the tables may not move, but the numbers are nothing more than little metal things on stands that certainly do move.

We were a party of 11 with 4 young children, including 2 princess-loving DDs (ages 5 and 7) on the 12/4/11 Dream, and we were also in the "private room" for RP. The princess interaction was next to nothing, but luckily, we had gone to the princess atrium and had a lovely time with the princesses there. Anyways--all that's just to say that even families with kids get stuck in the "private room" as well!:confused3

love it!

Can't complain about my table on the May 19th Eastern - we were seated at the center table! (We were a group of all adults ranging from 30 - 62). We felt like Knights at the Round Table! :cool2:

Too bad they have bad tables - I wish there were no bad tables.

My family was seated in the "private room" on the Dream and felt it was nice to be in the cozy room with just a few others. We made friends with the family at the table next to ours and we still communicate with them til this day. You're away from the others so it seems quiet and intimate. :goodvibes

Wish some one could post a picture. Going to be on the Fantasy in May 2013 and might want to request the table because we like the unusual spots.

We just got off the Western Fantasy, and our seating assignments weren't that great either...

We had what I would generously called an "obstructed view" at Animators. We didn't complain - but seriously, to have put a table there, behind one of those giant paintbrush posts was crazy. We didn't have a good view of any of the screens. I was wondering if we got the horrible table because we were repeat cruisers...

In Enchanted Gardens, we got one of the round tables up front. I kept longingly looking at the tables by the portholes.

In Royal Table, we were in the MDR but sandwiched in the middle next to the half wall. We were so close to the table next to us that our servers could barely get in to refill drinks, etc. Again, I kept longingly looking at those portholes...

We never complained about table location, but I think suffice to say, the grass is always greener! :)

If I have one I'll post it. I think we took lots of photos in the room but not of the room. I think I may have recorded it though with my camcorder.

I just got home from my trip on the Fantasy, and we had table 95. It was the exact same one that OP was talking about, in that back room right next to the serving station.

It actually didn't bother me at all. It was a lot quieter back there than the rest of the restaurant, and I liked that a lot.
