Has anyone had problems with their TAs saying they have taken care of their remaing balances on their trips and then for some reason the balance not showing up on their credit card statements?

My remaining balance was due this week. I emailed my TA last week and she said she took care of it on Tues of this week. However, when I call my credit card company, they show no record of it yet. Will my reservation then be cancelled due to this?

Thanks for all responses!

I'm thinking the TA probably paid Disney via her account with them but has not yet billed you. I'd get something in writing from the TA that you are paid in full.

We just paid the balance on our Italy trip yesterday. It hasn't shown up on the credit card statement yet, even though I was there when she ran it thru. I wouldn't get too concerned yet. I've seen it happen before on other vacations as well.

(Just a side note here... I've been to Disney over 200+ times, but I'd give up 3/4 of those trips for just *ONE* trip to Italy!! :goodvibes )

Given that we'll be away for 14 days, the trip was surprisingly inexpensive. Airfare was the biggest chunk and we booked it back in October. It's gone up by $1200 for the 4 of us since then!

DH & I have talked about doing this since before we were married (20 years this coming Wednesday). He's 100% Italian (2nd generation American-born) and has dreamed of returning to Italy since he tossed his coin in the Trevi Fountain 25 years ago.

:goodvibes Less than 7 weeks to go!

when my TA applied payments for me(used my debit card) it took 3-4 days for it to show up. Have her check for you again. One time after a week it still didn't show up and she checked back and there was a problem with my number they had. She had to give the info again.

I'm a TA. Some agencies will pay for your balance by agency check or on their own account with the vendor and then turn around and bill you. They do this so they can get their commission right away. For instance, if your package costs $2000, and they get a commission of $200, then they pay the vendor $1800 and bill you for $2000, thus getting their money right away, rather than waiting for the vendor to pay the agency (which depending on the vendor can take MONTHS to happen). This is all perfectly within the rules that agencies have to operate by, there's nothing under-handed about it.

Most agencies work on a weekly accounting cycle, for instance my agency processes charges on Fridays, so if this is what happened with you, you should see the charge show up very soon.

I just called my TA for you (she is a Disney TA) and since we have become friends over time she has become a great resource for me. I read your situation felt terrible for you b/c I too am a worrier. When it comes to Disney commissions it does not happen like the previous poster mentioned. You pay Disney the entire amount and the process the commission to their vendor, Disney does not allow agencies to deduct their commission like that. If the amount due is $2000 then that is what Disney requires be paid.
You should have seen the charge by now. I would make sure your TA is on top of things - I have gone thru quite a few TA's before meeting up with the girl I use now. I don't have worries anymore - she has been terrific!

You might want to check with Disney about your payments. I know we booked through AAA (NEVER AGAIN) and we had our package paid in full on Credit card. We got down there and on the last day of our stay we received a bill for the last 3 nights (Animal Kingdom Lodge no less) saying that it was not paid for. I freaked out! My DW the calm one, called up the front desk and explained we had a package through AAA and since it was SUnday we couldn't call AAA to verify payment. Everything worked out it was a computer glitch.

But the purpose of my story is to say that we still had our fun down there and according to Disney's computers, we weren't paid in full either. So don't fret you should still be okay. There could also be a lapse in the time when your TA submits final payment to when the Company actually decides to bill the Credit card. The date effective should still reflect the date it was authorized by you. For instance I paid my Columbia House bill on my CC and it took them 3 days to actually reserve the amount on my credit card.

I wouldn't be surprised if Disney had a different set of rules for disney internet TA's like dreamsunlimted, unless I'm mistaken your cc is charged by the hotel, and the larger TA's like American Express and Liberty. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the larger agencies were allowed to pay Disney net.
