I'd love to see the photos from the TA. Oh, yea...the TA she booked through was one in town here who goes to WDW 2-3 times per year. I'm pretty sure that my coworker just got REALLY confused when making her plans and thought the studio was at Pop.

Wow! Definatly not the TA, if the TA goes 2x or more a year (not that I though it was the TA anyway). I can't imagine anyone being THAT confused about where they were staying, but I guess anything is possible.

The only think I can think of, is that the co-worker asked about a studio with a kitchenette, the agent gave her a brochure and quoted her a price that was too expensive OR the co-worker told the agent they wanted to stay on Disney property. The agent then booked them at Pop but the co-worker had the orriginal "suite" info stuck in her head and thought that's what they were getting.

Or the co-worker is just a big fat liar.

She could have gotten a one bedroom DVC villa with a king bed and a jacuzzi tub in the room. We stay in them all the time.

I ran into a casual friend yesterday and she asked about our recent trip. I told her that we had a great time and we got into a conversation about WDW. She stayed at the Poly and I told her that is one place we do want to try we haven't, and that we have stayed at All Stars, POR, Dolphin, BC, BWI, Wilderness Lodge ...to which her reply was, "We ate over there. If I'm going somewhere like Disney World, I want to stay somewhere NICE, not in cabins." She said it in a snotty manner but I know Mickey wouldn't approve of a snotty response but I *AM* as DIS'er after all so I NICELY explained that we stayed at the LODGE, not in the cabins, but that the cabins and Fort Wilderness was very nice and I would love to try them also sometime. She asked about lines for rides and I said Fastpass helps greatly and she replied that "she had already paid enough to get in the parks, that they weren't willing to pay more for Fastpass. I explained the FREE system....wish you could have seen the look on her face. We have a Six Flags close by and from what I hear they have their version of fastpass or front of the line pass but you pay extra. I think a lot of people do not understand the system at WDW but I am not complaining. pirate:

Hey, I had that 2 BR Suite with kitchenette and Jacuzzi at POP this past Jan...2 connecting rooms with Full Kitchen-Frig (really big cooler) Dishwasher ( bathroom sink with dishsoap I brought) Stove (well, me pouring cereal into bowls, no heat involved)
and DS8 made is own little bubbling whirlpool in the tub (he can fart on command ya know!)

There are just some people in this world that have to one up everything to feel important. If you stayed in pop, they had a suite there. If you stayed in FW, they stayed in ASMO concierge. If you waited 10 minutes in line they waited 5. If your kid reads at 4th grade level while in kindergarten, then theirs reads at 6th even though you see the kid having trouble with the foot book by Dr. Seuss.
If your hub just got a raise hers got a bigger one. And of course it applies to bad things too. If you got a pay cut, she lost her job. If you had a mole removed for cancer, she thinks her doctor told her she has lung cancer. And don't ever call them on their fibbing. They've done it so long, they actually believe it even when they have no clue. You'll regret it. Best just to nod the head and say yes... Yup.... Oh that's great...or oh that's tragic.... as the case warrants.

Are these people so filled with pride that they just can't admit they stayed a a VALUE resort??!! Gimme a break

They're just posing that they're filled with pride. It's really insecurity

I just want to see this made my morning.... I just could not stop laughing with all of these post...

I had a weird experience w/ a lady yesterday who had stayed onsite at WDW sometime in the last couple years and couldn't remember what the name of her hotel was. Something spanish-like.
I am thinking "Did you make the reservations or not?" :earseek:

I am staying at a Value and I'm PROUD of it!!!

Of course, I come from a background where you brag about how much you SAVE vs. how much you SPEND! My parents are already embarrased to tell people we are going to WDW as it sounds like we are flaunting our $.
 LOL

So I get to mention the "Free Dining" to sound like I am cool. :smooth:
What a goofy world.

your co-worker sounds like one of my neighbors . . . You can't tell her ANYTHING! She knows it ALL! . . . or so she thinks! Some people are just like that!

As the saying goes:
"People who think they know everything are very annoying to those of us who actually do." :rotfl2:

We would love to stay at one of the more fancy resorts at Disney world.
I think the value resort(ALL STARS and POP) are a great place to stay if you really want the DISNEY THEME stay. I could afford to stay at one of the other pricer resorts but we choice to stay there because we think the are so cute.I guess it depends on if you pan on LIVING in your room or not!
We dont! Some people will stay somewhere just to say they stayed there. ::MickeyMo

the kabuki, that was hilarious! My coworker told me today she hopes I'm not disappointed when I get to Pop in Sept. I politely reminded her that DH & I had stayed there Easter Week 2004 and really liked it. We thought it was quite fun! I also told her about the DVC resorts and renting points before she went. Oh well, I still want to see those pictures of hers. I told her we need to sit down together so I can hear all the details of the trip and get my Disney fix! She said they didn't get to go parasailing because the weather didn't cooperate.

I am a DVC member too and I also love Pop. It is a fun resort.

do you think she read here that maybe (and I mean a big maybe) that the rest of Pop might be the family suites (like Holiday Inn) and got confused and though this was a done thing?

stayed there for 18 days and only saw one night fireworks. Maybe they didn't like dealing with the crowds after the shows.

While I REALLY doubt the co-worker knew what she was talking about, I will say IF you book through AAA their brochure does outline all of the benefits of the Premium plan. The giant jump in cost wasn't worth it for us, mostly because we will spend the vast majority of our time in the parks. To pay ALL that extra money and then not even use the additional activities would be an enormous waste. (Which is maybe what Disney is hoping? Charge people for parasailing then hope none of them go? ;) )

It was nice to read about the package, even if I can't imagine buying it.

We were at Pop in January and we are going back in October. I'll have to see if they have a suite available when we check in. I'm sure since we were there once already this year we will qualify for lots of special perks! :rolleyes1

I spoke with her for a few minutes Friday and she said she has pictures that her TA gave her of the "Studio" at Pop. She said she showed them to the registration desk and was told "I don't know where those pictures came from, but we don't have any rooms like that at WDW". She also told me they had someone from concierge contact her, and that she is going to call Cindy in concierge if they go to WDW again. She said they had a wonderful time, but they will never stay at Pop again. I suppose if you were expecting a "King Studio with a whirlpool" a room at Pop might be disappointing. She is going to bring some photos in. I'd love to see the photos from the TA. Oh, yea...the TA she booked through was one in town here who goes to WDW 2-3 times per year. I'm pretty sure that my coworker just got REALLY confused when making her plans and thought the studio was at Pop. I still need to ask how the parasailing went. DH asked her husband what they thought of the fireworks, (they were there for 18 days!!!) he told DH that they only saw Illuminations, they were just too tired at the end of the night to stay for WISHES or Fantasmic. I just don't get it. 18 days and they couldn't see ANY fireworks but Illuminations...once.

Several years ago a neighbor of ours was going to Disney. This was all she talked about for 2 years. Of course they were going to stay longer than we ever did and would have the most fabulous trip ever!!(Get where I'm going here??)
So they go and I call when they get home to find out how it was. Well it was OK, but it was too much of a "working vacation." They never went out at night and were always in their room ready for bed at 6:30PM. Their kids weren't babies either. They too never saw any fireworks! :confused3

A friend of mine goes to FLA regularly to visit family members. They often go to wdw for several days or for a day trip. In a recent conversation about my upcoming trip, I discovered she had never gone to MGM and didn't know anything about AK. How do you go to wdw and not know? She looked at me rather skeptically when I mentioned them and said something about only liking MK (she didn't care for EPCOT etiher).

Then I heard about the great hotel they stayed in and of course assumed it was on-site. No it was great because it was cheap.

Oh well, the things some people miss out on when they know everything.

A coworker just returned from an 18 day stay at Pop Century and was quite upset that they didn't get the "2 BR suite with a King size bed and kitchenette" at Pop Century like her travel agent had promised her

What's she been drinking? I'll have what she's having.
