TA Question. Can I transfer an existing reservation to a TA?

I have an existing reservation that I’d like to transfer to a TA. Is that a possibility? Thanks!

I think there is a limited window from when you booked to transfer travel to a TA. At least it is for cruises - I tried to do that last year but the TA told me that since I had booked (I think it was) over 2 weeks prior that I could not transfer it to her.

May just be for cruises. We have transferred our Disney reservation to a TA after that point, but I do think it needs to be done before the final payment due date or perhaps before the final payment is made in general. Like PP, there was just a form she needed to fill out.

Is there any benefit to transferring to a TA? I know they give onboard credit on cruises, but do they offer anything comparable for a Disney world vacation?

One benefit would be if you booked at rack and the TA was a good one and would watch for discounts for you. I have done this a few times.

It can be helpful if you think discounts will come out when you on a vacation, having a family event like wedding, or any other life event.

Just remember that once you transfer your vacation to a TA you cannot do anything with it yourself. If you see a lower rate, you have to contact the TA, you can't change it.

I used to use a TA, but I haven't for years. Unless you are planning a wedding, or using a TA that has special discounts, there isn't anything you can't easily deal with.

If Disney does come out with a promotion, will they automatically contact you, or do you have to initiate the communication

We use to do it all ourselves and tried a "Disney TA Specialist" company and have been using her ever since. One time she emailed me at 6AM saying that a discount had come out and she switched our reservation over to it and saved us $$$. Why do I want to waste my time constantly monitoring for discounts and if one does come out and I am at work and can't drop everything to change my reservation or I do not see it til later, there's a good chance I will miss out on it. BUT make sure you get a good Disney TA, and who knows they may even have a better deal then WDW discounts. The only thing you lose control over is that if you want to change your reservation and that you will make payments through them instead of WDW. You still control all your ADRs and FP's yourself.

Dreams Unlimited automatically checks for discounts, and they'll apply one automatically if it works for your reservation. Not sure about other agencies.

Yes they do. You and however many other people they are helping with their trips.

As I said, I used to use them. I am now more comfortable handling things myself, and not having to wait and see if they can get what I want. Be it a discount or a reservation of some sort.
