For those who have used a TA…was your TA able to get you the free dining with the resort you wanted?

This is the first time I’m using a TA (DU) and am very happy with them but just a little nervous that they won’t be able to get us free dining w/ the resort and dates we want. We have the Disney Visa. I’m just hoping they have some magic number or magic powers and are able to get me what I want.

Anyone has had past experience with DU and free dining…that they would like to share?

While I haven't used DU myself, I don't think that their chances are any worse than if you did it on your own in getting your choice of resort - dates will be subject to the offer itself.

I'm not sure, however, about the Disney VISA - if you booked with them using that card, I would think that they could contact Disney on your behalf on the VISA offer date - but I would send them an e-mail now and ask them that directly. Worst case scenario, if they can't book for you on the VISA date and you are unwilling to cancel and book with Disney on your own, DU will be able to adjust your ressie on the day the offer goes completely public. Usually, unless you are interested in a room with extremely limited availability (such as perhaps the ASMu Family Suites if they are included in this year's offer), those couple of days shouldn't make a significant difference in getting what you want.

When we did FD in '06, we weren't able to book until MAY, and we not only got our resort of choice (ASMo), but requested Buzz Lightyear building on the ressie and faxed a room request a week in advance (the suggested time frame to do so) and got exactly what we asked for.

Admittedly, back in '06, it didn't seem like there was the desperation we've seen in '07 and '08 - but there were still those concerned about dates, availability of rooms, etc. That has happened every year since the initial offer in '05 - yet most people seem to get the resort they want. Sure, some have had to settle for second or even third choices, but if you book within the first couple of days that the offer comes out, I think your chances are good - even if DU is taking care of your package.

Don't worry! Dreams Unlimited is great. I used them two times already and have rebooked with them for this September. Last year, I just emailed Dorothy from DU who was handling my ressie about a day before the open to the public free dining date and asked her to try to change my ressie to the free dining and she did! No problems what so ever and she had my new total very quickly on the day the offer was released!:thumbsup2

Unfortunately we had to cancel last year because of my dad having to have surgery so I am hopin and prayin for free dining this year like the rest of you all. Hope we're all  celebrating soon and not:sad:

Thank you....this is exactly what I wanted to hear! Were you able to get the resort and dates you wanted for your past FD?

Of all the TAs to use for this, you probably have one of the best. Hopefully you get your resort, but if you don't there are lots of great ones at least. Some are tougher than others (CR it seems).

Yep! She did ask ahead of time if I had to change resorts which I would prefer as a back up but she was able to keep the resort and the dates the same for me. It was for Port Orleans Riverside. I kinda remember POP, CSR and WL being some of the harder ones to get. Good Luck to you!

I wouldn't worry about it-- DU is gonna be on the phone that morning trying to switch all their clients over to the free dining.
