I have a Canon T2i and am reviewing photos I just took on a week long trip. I'm noticing some funky file number sequences. If I put in a different SD card, shouldn't the numbers just pick up where they were before and keep numbering from there?

I see a morning sequence of photos ending in 1189. The late morning sequence starts at 9885. I might have changed cards. I'm not sure.

I have another series of photos on a different day that have duplicates of the same number. So two number 0001 shots, two number 0002 shots, etc. I believe those were on different cards.

With my old camera, the numbers stayed the same. I noticed when I got my 60D that they are really weird. It took me a bit to figure out that if I reformat the card when I put it in the camera, it will continue with the last card, but if I don't, it just continues with the last number on the card. It drove me crazy for a while!

Maybe that's what is happening with your camera?

Maybe so. I know I reformatted all of my cards before I left home, but don't reformat anything while I'm gone.
