We had a bit of a lie in and didn’t get up until about 8.00. We had a quick coffee and as we had heard from the lady in Piktails the day before about the promise Wal-mart had made with regards to matching companies sales offers, we thought we’d give it a try. We went back to the Wal-Mart on the 535 as that’s where we’d seen the Storybook cartridge for $60. It was still on the self so we took it up to the checkout armed with the Jo-Anns sales flyer and Wal-Marts own with the price matching promise on it.

The sales clerk agreed we had it right and after she’d checked it with her supervisor we walked out of the shop with it for only $28. Theresa was so pleased; she’d got all the cartridges for the Cricut die-cutting machine she’d wanted and not paid over $35 for any of them.:goodvibes

We called in at Dunkin’ for coffee and donuts before we hit the road. We were off to Silver Springs today. While we were in the Dunkin’ car park a lady was walking up and down with a push chair. There is nothing unusual in that apart from she was wearing her PJ’s. She looked like she was the grandmother and I can only guess at how bad a night the family must of had for granny to still be trying to get the little girl to go to sleep and 9.00. She didn’t look like she had much chance as her granddaughter was wide awake.:guilty:

It was a long slow drive up the 27 and took us about two and a half hours. We were constantly stop / starting due to the lights. We did pass Showcase of Citrus on the way which we planned on visiting later in the holiday so at least we now knew where to find it. We also passed four Wal-Marts on the way and didn’t stop. How’s that for restraint.:rotfl2:

We arrived at Silver Springs at about 13.00 and went straight on the glass bottomed boats.

The park was very quiet and everything was a walk on. We went on the jeep ride, the lighthouse ride and the river boat ride in no time at all.

We had a walk around the whole park looking at all the animals.

Theresa’s favourite animal is the giraffe and she had a fun time getting some pictures. This was the response when we told them some of our friends think giraffes are boring.

There was a family in one of the shops and a small boy was sobbing his heart out as his mother was refusing to buy him a cuddly alligator; to be fair this alligator was bigger than him.

We were told that if you stood in the centre of the circle made by this tree you would have 5 years good luck, we are still filling in the lottery tickets without any luck though.

We enjoyed the park but it was expensive if you were just visiting for the day ($33 each). Their annual pass however was fantastic value at $44 which includes entry to the concerts and other special events they hold throughout the year. I love country music so the line-up was particularly impressive to me.
12 Dec Lorrie Morgan

9-10 Jan Ford Mustang Roundup

Feb 20 Neal McCoy
Feb 27 Starship

We saw the concert area and it was fantastic; they have an imposing stage and you sit around on your picnic rugs. Perfect for an afternoon of free entertainment.

As night began to fall hundreds of birds flew in to roost for the night.

We chose to go today as they were holding The Festival of Lights and as the sun went down they became more and more impressive. We walked back around the park getting pictures of the various displays.

We left at around 6.30 and made our way back to Kissimmee. We had a much better run back and seemed to meet a lot more green lights so maybe there was an element of truth in the tree story.
We stopped at Joes’ crab Shack on the 192 for dinner. It’s a really fun place to go. I had the Crab daddy Feast and Theresa opted for the Crab cake sliders. She wasn’t feeling too good today and didn’t want to be messing around trying to prize open the crab legs and claws.

They took our photo and we downloaded it when we got home. This place was really fun and Theresa is keen to return when she is feeling better so she can enjoy it properly next time. :thumbsup2

Nice day Tony and also lovely to see another area of Orlando.

Silver Springs looks really nice - pity you couldn't catch a concert while you was there. Maybe next time?

brilliant day- nice to see more of what florida has to offer :thumbsup2

Silver Springs looks lovely. Its nice to see other parts of Florida.:thumbsup2

Must have been quite cool as noticed you were wearing jeans and jumpers. I have never been so late on in year.

It's a happy day that starts with Theresa buying the cartridge she wanted for less than half price at Wal-Mart and ends with good food at Joe's Crab Shack with a relaxing day in a beautiful park tucked in between. You made Silver Springs look like a place worth exploring. What a great concert lineup--FREE concerts for AP holders!? Wow!! Any chance you can time your next visit to FL to see any of those?

I wish; next trip we are visiting with my SIL Oct 16th to 30th as she has to fit the trip in with school holidays.

A lovely relaxing day (apart from the traffic on the way there). The lights looked beautiful and I too liked the giraffe pictures.

Laur's xx

Silver Springs looks lovely. Have you been there before? Chris Cagle is one of my favourite Country performers - I'd pay for the annual pass just for that one performance (which I see was last night).

Great pics Tony-i also love the giraffe pics .Great deal on the cartridge Theresa wanted.x.

It was our first visit Debs. Couldn't agree more about the annual passes. If there is a concert on it's a must do.:thumbsup2

the park looks very peaceful. A very different day to yesterday
