The Crew
Tony ……………….Driver and general gofer
Theresa…………….Scrapbook shopper extraordinaire
Peggy (my mum)…..I’ll go on anything as long as it’s not upside down.
Zena (my aunt)…….Ditto
I went with Mum and Zena to Forever Florida today to go horse riding. We have all ridden before apart from Theresa so she took the option of being dropped off at Jo-Ann to do some serious scrapbook shopping while we were gone. She had 5 hours in her Scrapbook shopper extraordinaire mode so the credit card was sweating.
It took about an hour and a half to get to Forever Florida, which is East on the 192 then South on the 441 at Holopaw. I missed the turn as there was no signpost for the 441 so we lost about 10 minutes but were still only 5 minutes late.
It was just us going out in our group so there was no problem about holding anyone up.
We completed the waiver paper work and went on a really enjoyable ride. The temperature wasn’t too hot and the breeze made it very pleasant. One word of advise if you do go riding, make sure you get the stirrups at the correct length. We had never ridden in long stirrups before. I thought mine were right but my right knee was really starting to hurt half way through. Get them right and you will be comfortable all day. We got very close to some deer, raccoons and Mum even saw a couple of wild boar as they went crashing off into the undergrowth.
Mum’s horse was bred on the farm and was a cracker horse which is descended from the original horses brought over by the Spanish. They are more hardy and will keep going all day unlike the quarter horses that don’t cope as well according to our guide, Charlie.
After the ride we went back to pick up Theresa from the shops and have a late lunch at Denny’s. Theresa was weighed down by bags of stuff from her tour of Jo-Anns, Marshalls and Target.
Next we went back to the condo with Theresa’s haul and after a power nap we went off to Winter Summerland for a round of golf. As we have annual passes, the golf was half price for the four of us at $25.
We all enjoyed it and then collected a pizza from the on-site Pizza Hut to take back to the condo.
