T-shirts

Is it true t-shirts run $30.00 at Disney world? I sure hope not!
Some do. If you are really lucky, and not super picky you may be able to get one cheaper. Most of what we bought has been about that price though. I bought a pair of PJ's that ran me $75.00, just to give you an idea of what you are up against!

They sure do. The shirts that I bought there last year ran about $24, not sure if prices went up since June though.

They may be on the higher=price area.

However, a few years ago I went on an off-site tour of the Park Production Center, which does all the shirt silk screening, embroidery, and embossing. At one side I saw two Kenmore washers and dryers. and boxes of a major brand detergent. Any time they get in a new shipment of shirts, threads, or paints they will take more than a dozen shirts (randomly selected from withing the delivery) and silk screen or embroider a special test pattern which they use. They will then run them through at least ten wash and dry cycles. If the shirts shrink, the colors run or fade they will reject the batch.

So they are paying higher prices than normal due to their requirements of higher standards than most other companies.

In other words, you are paying for the Quality Control.

Suggestion

Go to the disney store (or online) and pick up some cute shirts for less than $10 each. Take them to WDW with you - surprise the kide in the morning with a gift from Mickey.

When they were young and we did a lot of character meals I would buy shirts with the match character of the meal. It is always a goood attention getting of the characters when you are wearing their shirt.

We have a trip planned for April and we're bringing along a family with four little kids. I went to Walmart.com and ordered them all Disney shirts for $7.00 each plus $.97 shipping. They had a great selection. They only took about 3 days to arrive. The fabric is on the thinner side, but hey, they were only $7.00! :yay:

We like to make our own shirts ahead of time too. That way we have tons of Disney wear for all the days we will be there, then we let the kids buy whatever they want with the money they have earned between trips. Only two of them have bought shirts I think. My daughter has bought two, and I must've taught her well b/c both times the shirts were discounted. My son bought an Aerosmith shirt and today was still whining about how much it cost him.

Last year we did tie dye shirts that turned out so great! We also did a lot with transfers, but the transfers did not hold up, so this year we invested in an embroidery machine! Yay! I am not suggesting this, just saying it b/c I am excited. It also will branch my business out a bit more. I found t-shirts the other day at Target for $1.48!!! I snagged all I could find at that price! We did 60 shirts last year, so I will take the savings!!!

I just bought t-shirts at the Disney outlet for our whole family for $2.99 each and they were the Fab 5 not some no name character that is on clearance because no one knows who they are!
