Once I have the design I want to place on a T-shirt, what's next? Just how do I get it on the T-shirt? I am looking to do some fun ones for my DGS, DH and I but haven't a clue how to do them. Our trip isn't until January so have time to get it right, Thank God!

So what type of T-shirt do I use?
What items do I need to have on hand or purchase?
What preparation do I need do to the shirt itself?
How do I go about preparing the design? How to get it from computer to the T-sirt? Do I use transfer paper? How? :confused3

Please feel free to fill in the answers for any other questions I have yet to think of.

I need to know the works. It is safe to say when it comes to this - I am an artistically charlleged. However I am determined to try it. If I can do other crafty things - I can do this too, right? Hopefully, if not, is there a place where I can just go and buy them? :rotfl2:

Okay please please please walk me through the process step by painful step.

Thanks to anyone brave enough to try and help me. :yay:

This isn't hard at all! Here is a really good step by step (and even includes a video link!) for using the dark transfers. :goodvibes

Thanks Lisa. I needed an article like that.

I didn't see however any specific instructions for printing the image out.
Can I use my regular computer for this step and print the image from my saved pictures file directly onto transfer paper?

Will transfer paper fit into my printer? I know probably a dumb question but remember I am very new to this and not computer savvy either. I have to take baby steps.

Also the video talks about reversing the image? Can I not just print it as I would a document?

Any other tips for printing???

Thank a bunch!!

I use my personal computer. If you use the transfer paper that is 8.5 x11 it will fit. Have fun

When you go to print, go to print and then another box will pop up: you will slide your transfer paper into the printer( I only do 1 sheet at a time), then select design, click on print, then go to "printing preferences" by clicking on this a box will drop down and then you will select transfer paper, after selecting this, that box will close and then you will need to click on advanced, click on this then you will have several things to choose from..I usually leave the size "letter" alone and then and only then if you are using a light color transfer, you will scroll down to mirror image, click this to yes, click ok, click print and continue to print the picture. It will begin to print and click finish and you are ready to do your next one:) If you are using a dark transfer, you do not have to reverse the image ..good luck:) and happy transferring. when you do a light transfer, you will lay the design down on your shirt and iron over it, if doing a dark transfer, pull the paper off the back and lay the sticky like side down and put the thin paper over it and iron that paper. You will need to wait til the designs are cool before pulling the paper off the design. I hope I haven't repeated what someone else has already told you and if so, I apologize..it can be very undaunting the first few times...
