When we were in the world in 2008 they weren't open yet. So we said next time we go back we would try it. So now we have a Res for it and i'm just wondering how is it? Thanks for your opinion!!

I absolutely LOVED the theming and the food at T-Rex. I do have to mention that the food I had at T-Rex was IDENTICAL to the food I ate two days later at the Rainforest. I knew they are owned by the same company, but I wanted to point that out. I had chili con queso follwed by foccacia bread which was soooo good! For dessert, I had key lime pie which is hard to find here in Wisconsin.
I wish we would've been seated in the ice cave because that was super cool to see all the changing colors. Instead, we sat below some jellyfish.
We daughter's food was also identical to that of the Rainforest....dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets with fries.
I think you can eat at either the Rainforest OR T-Rex and have almost the same experience.
I loved eating at Rainforest at AK after the park already closed. We were the only ones of the bus back to AKL after we ate! The busses ran until 7 pm and the park closed at 5.

We ate at T-Rex for the first time in December and our family enjoyed the theming but it is definitely something we will not be doing again. The food was just ok for the cost ($70 some with tip for 2 adults, 2 children). The place was just a madhouse (had 6:30 reservation) no matter where you were in the restaurant, it was so loud that DH and I literally had to raise our voices to talk to each other across the table. Don't get me wrong - we were expecting that and the place was really cool and the kids loved it. It's just that you put those things together with the cost of it, the ok food and it was a one time thing for us.

Get the ribs! The lady that sold us the overpriced geode told us to try the ribs. DBF did and they were melt in your mouth yummy! I had a burger. It was a burger. I was pregnant and that is what I wanted at the time. Can't wait to go back and try something else.

The food is very below average. The set up is very nice, the dinosaurs and such. It is very noisy. We won't be going back.

Is the Build-a-Dino store inside the restaurant? I don't think I want to eat at T-Rex after hearing about how loud it is, but I do want to go get a dino stuffie.

We ate there right after it opened (DEC 2008) and it was so so. Not a lot of options but they were still getting it together.

We went again Aug 2009 and it was great and lots of options. But that may just be because it's not Disney food. (just finished 14 days of free Disney Dining) It wasn't on the meal plan so we sprang for a lunch on the last day.

When the show is going it gets rather loud but it's a fun experience.

We got 2 Build a Dinos from the gift shop but we didn't fill them until we got home. (went to our local Build a Bear store)

We thought it would save room in the luggage but it really wasn't necessary.

[edit] I find the noise level at Planet Hollywood to be just as loud because of the people.
[edit2] apparently I forgot it's 2010 ... LOL
Trex opened 2008

It's in the gift shop

it's not loud constantly just a few minutes during the show.

[edit] I thought worm761 said the burger was pregnant ... :rotfl:

Though it was overstuffed ... :thumbsup2

I agree that's its very similar to rainforest. My family likes rainforest and I like that it's noisy, so I don't feel bad if my 3 boys are noisy. I had a yummy martini (one of the cotton candy ones) and a mango salsa shrimp dish that was really good. Hubby had it, too and enjoyed it.

The do take the safari club discount card and safari club coupons, that was great for us. we had a $25 gift cert for landrys and a $15 coupon from safari club.

They have a digsite that the kids can play in while you wait. It entertained my kids for a few minutes. :lmao:

Rainforest and T-Reex are owned by the same company so they would have the same food.

The most recent addition to Downtown Disney is the T-Rex Cafe. It is owned and operated by Landry's, the same restaurant company that boasts both Rainforest Cafe and the Yak & Yeti in its list of highly popular and well themed restaurants.

It's all those things people say. If you like Rainforest you'll love T-Rex and vise a versa. The food is good the food is bad both are true. Just go and have a good time. We did. :thumbsup2

We went in May last year. I loved it. the theming was awesome- we ate under the jellyfish which was cool-wish we were in the ice room though. Had a cotton candy-tini...it was really really good-i definately recommend it. We shared mozarella sicks for an appetizer. I had tricolor tortellini and it was good-though a pretty big portion it probably could be shared. It was a little pricey, but it was fun to do-i mean everything is a bit pricier in WDW. I would definately go back. There were lots of people in there and it was a tad noisy when the meteor shower happened but other wise it was just a busy resturant. The atmosphere made up for any shortcomings. I'll definately go there again-if not just for the drink, lol:rotfl:

Do they mind if you share your meal? My DD 14 wants ribs and I want chicken so we where going to share the meal where you got both and then splurge on that yummy looking $15 dessert. Will they think I'm crazy if we ask for an extra plate?:rotfl2:

We've had our ups and downs but that was mainly with service. The food has always been fresh and very good. If you want to just go for dessert and a show, get the Chocolate Extinction. It's soooo yummy! There are like 4 slices of fudgey oh so good chocolate/brownie cake, ice cream, caramel sauce and butterfinger pieces. Last time we went they let us take the center piece (volcano) home.

When we were there my 2 boys shared one meal. The waitress gave us an extra plate.

Our kids almost always share a meal all over Disney.

I have to agree with the PP that have said the cost does not justify the food. It was so expensive for the quality of food you get. We got 1 kid's plate, 1 entree, and 1 appetizer and our bill was $60! My cousin who's a CM said that they usually grab some food somewhere else and then go to T-Rex for dessert. That way you still get the experience, just not the bill!

The theming is fabulous. Be forewarned that they do the thunderstorm (if you have little ones) just like Rainforest Cafe.

People always seem to complain about the food at T-rex and RFC. We always just get apps, and kids meals, desserts. Both restaurants have great appetizers, desserts and we are never waiting long for our food. T-rex is very cool, you'll have a great time.

We were pleased with our food at T Rex. We knew that, like Rainforest Cafe, the food is expensive. We ordered a burger ($11.99) which was good, and a paleonzonic chicken sandwich ($12.99) which was very good.

A burger at T-Rex is $1 cheaper a burger at Sci-Fi. Kids meals are $6.99/$7.99 each and are also on par with other TS around the World.

We shared the Chocolate Extinction ($14.99) for dessert, which was not only tasty, it was very cool to watch at your table! It's meant to split 4 ways, but it's so huge that it could be split out up to 6 ways if everyone just wanted a taste of something sweet.

I would suggest it for everyone at least once. The atmosphere is amazing, especially for little boys who are really into dinosaurs. So nice to see Disney finally have something that caters to boys so much more than the princesses.

We all enjoyed T-Rex. DS wants to go back there for his 4th birthday to see the dinos. The kids thought the atmosphere was great, and we all enjoyed our meals. The only downside was that the portions were so big that we didn't have any room left for dessert :sad1:.
