I just read about this place opening and am interested. What is it like? I read that it is from the same people who did Rainforest Cafe, and while we don't love the food there the kids do love the atmosphere. Is it like Rainforest Cafe but Dinosaur themed? Do tell!

Yes, it is owned by the same people that own RFC...The food is very similar and the atmosphere is also...But yes, it is dino themed...They have some amazing looking dinosaurs and several themed areas...The is a large ice room, an underwater themed area and several large dinos throughout...They have a cute dig area for the kids and a build-a-dino too...The food was chain quality and is a bit on the expensive side...My kids loved it...We plan to go with them again...

BTW, they do not take the dining plan and you must call them directly for an ADR.

I really enjoyed this restaurant and the kids loved it. The theming is more intense than a Rainforest Cafe I think. My younger son has several severe food allergies and they were wonderful with it. The cost was similar to one of the Disney restaurants. We'd definitely go back.

I knew this restaurant would be an absolute must for our trip in March 2010 because our boys (9 & 6) would never let us live it down if we failed to take them. After seeing the menu, I do believe they're pricey, but not so bad that I would decide against it.

Actually you dont. I made an online reservation for our December trip through the Disney site! Makes things easier :goodvibes

Possible, but only a small number of slots are available via the web site. When I tried, the web site said 'no availability' for lunch, but when I called, the guy said availability was "12:00, 12:15, 12:30, 12:45" etc...

I went to TREX for my wedding dinner. The food, although on the expensive side, comes in HUGE portions, one entree would be enough for the two of us. The cocktails are a must! and make sure to have a wander around all of the rooms, each one is spectacular. About every 20 minutes there is a 'meteor shower' where the dinosaurs 'all come to life'-a great experience and the food isn't bad either

Compared to other restaurants at Disney T-Rex and Rainforest are pretty modestly priced. The portions are larger which in my opinon is a not necessarily a plus, because in all of my trips we have never had room for dessert.

T-Rex and Rainforest are similar in terms of food, but the nod goes to T-Rex for theme and atmosphere.

We enjoy both restaurants.

I forgot to add about the online system...But what the other poster is true...It does seem to be more difficult to prime seating times online...I was shut out online but was able to get my exact desired time when I called...But yes, sorry I forgot to mention that.

Do things move around every 20 minutes or so like at the Rainforest Cafe?

Yes, the dinos get very loud and move around about every 20 minutes...The lights do flash and it does get quite loud...But it is not too bad...DS has autism and was not upset by the noise or the lights...One cool thing is that the ice will change colors as you sit through your meal.

Booked direct when online did not have good times available, especially dinner.
Food good, big portions but expensive.
Decor is awesome, be sure to walk around.
DS has sound issues and did fine, mostly like meteor shower type stuff.
Get the dessert - Extinction, and share ! I would go back just for that.

We were just there this past Friday. Atmosphere was GREAT but our 3.5 year old was scared of the giant T-Rex that greets you. We made ADR on-line for 11:30 lunch. Got there at 11:00 to check in and was seated right away. They didn't even ask us about ADR. noticed a lot of empty seats around noon when we were leaving but there was a bit of a line at the door. I think if you are planning to go early in the day an ADR is not needed.

Food was just ok (but the French Onion soup was GREAT). I'm glad we went and experienced it but imo it was not worth the money and I would not go back.

Expensive??? No it's not expensive when compared to Disney's table service restaurants. It's quite a bit cheaper than any of those. I can walk out of T-rex for $60-$70 for the same meal that would cost $100+ in Epcot. The theme is top shelf as well. Truely a masterpiece. Food is very good, too.

Is this the desert "Extinction" that everyone is talking about? My ds1 would LOVE that!

Thanks for all of the pictures and reviews everyone. We are definitely going to eat there. The kids will LOVE it!!
