T Rex

Nobody knows yet, as there hasn't been any official announcement. However, speculation is that it will not be part of the DDP.

T-Rex is Landry owned, as is Rainforest Cafe. Being that Rainforest doesn't accept the DDP and because of T-Rex's proximity to the DTD Rainforest Cafe location - people are guessing 'no'.

That sucks. I got excited to use this as our arrival day ADR.

I've read that the opening date is 14th Oct too so must be about right, apparently they will be taking reservations as soon as they have the date confirmed. Found video showing how they come up with the ideas for the restaurant and the Yak and Yeti, apparently they were both done by the same company. Best video though is of the T-Rex in kansas.....it looks really good so can't wait to give the Orlando one a go now.:thumbsup2

I have seen many reports that: T-Rex will open October 14; it is not expected to be on DDP; and it will not take reservations until 2009 - walk-ups only.

I was just about to make a thread asking this same question:thumbsup2 . The menu looks yummy popcorn::
Oh yeah, bump

May I ask where you found a menu? I'd love to see it. I looked on Allears.net but couldn't find anything. Our stay is in March and my DGS's would love this.

Didn't Yak and Yeti start out in a similiar manner, soft opening, walk ups only and now it is on the DDP. One can only hope.... I am not going till next March so hopefully by then it will be on!!

We may go anyway, we are DVCer's at OKW so it would be close for us to boat over and give it a try!

Yak and Yeti started out similarly. The reason that they're suspecting that T-Rex will be different is because it's owned by the same company as Rainforest, so they expect it to be 'just' like Rainforest. Who knows though? They may be willing to go a different direction. However, they may be confident enough that they'll sell out without the plan, they may not want to be part of the plan. Restaurants stand to lose out by taking the plan, especially independents.

Yak & Yeti is owned by that company also.

There is one major difference - Y&Y is inside the AK theme park. AK has only two TS restaurants inside the park, and the other is a buffet. (The Rainforest Cafe just outside the park gates does not accept DDP.)

There is only one restaurant inside a theme park that does not accept DDP - Bistro de Paris in Epcot (and I speculate that Bistro can afford not to accept it).

If I had to guess, I'd guess that T-Rex will not take DDP because it's located at Downtown Disney. Landrys doesn't seem interested in dining plan participation unless they feel like they have to participate.

I hope they decide to add it though! My son LOVES dinosaurs and when I heard they were opening a dinosaur themed restaurant I was excited! He will love eating there. I think I will go there even if its not on the dining plan.

Hi...just called Disney dining...as of right now..no adr's (not even sure if /when they will take them)...no news on dining plan. Cm said 'if i had to guess I'd say not on the dining plan...but that's just my guess" :confused3 :surfweb: :rolleyes1

Another poster on the earlier quoted thread got a reply from an email sent to T-Rex that it will accept the premium and platinum plans, but not the regular or deluxe dining plans (this is what Rainforest Cafe does).
