T-Rex with teens? Too lame?

We are going to be in Disney at New Years and wanted to go to Disney Springs NYD. I have a 13 and 16 year old, but with all the times we have been to WDW and DS we have never been to T-Rex but they always thought it looked cool. Would it be really lame for teens or do you think they would still get a kick out of it. They’re pretty good kids and don’t act like they’re “too cool” so didn’t know if it could still be something fun for them.

Edit - I forgot to add we are surprising them with this trip so can’t ask if they want to go or not!

They will love it. It has a great variety of food, and it is fun and loud, it is always packed each time we go, and not just kids lots of all ages.

We have a teen and are going to the Boathouse. They have great sliders and fish Tacos. You might be able to snag an ADR via open table (I see plenty of availability for 4 on MDE for NYE). We are on the dining plan so will pay out of pocket (not great value using 2 credits and all sides are extras). You get a discount on the Amphicars as well.

If they love animals, Boma has the best buffet. We usually budget extra time to watch animals on the Savana before sunset (5:45 pm) and then head to dinner. Sanaa menu has had a change but other than bread service food is just ok.

I’ve been intrigued by dinosaurs since I was six, so if I had had the chance to eat among life size, moving and roaring dinosaurs I’d have jumped at it. There are mammoths in one area and a huge octopus covering the bar as well, and every few minutes it gets even louder as the meteor strikes. So I think it would be fun - but I’m way too old to know what’s cool to teens today, as my 15 year old DGD likes to tell me.

First tell them … Tim Burton was just interviewed on NPR National Public Radio about BeetleJuice and ended with discussing his true passion and collection …
When he said Dinosaurs , the interviewer thought he meant real dinosaurs and Tim just laughed and said No he collected theme park dinosaurs !
I loved that and wanted to immediately tell him he needed to buy all of DinoLand to rescue those dinosaurs from Disney !

I hope they have the duplicate Infamous Rain Forest Volcano Cale dessert with the surprise sparklers! It is my favorite and want Togo for my birthday in November !

We went to its sister restaurant Rainforest Cafe and it was way too greasy esp on a park day. Might be ok on a non park day.

Boathouse

Just don’t let them seat you in the ice cave. It was freezing in there.

Sorry I should have mentioned we are surprising them with this trip, they don’t know about it so that’s why I can’t ask them!

If you do go, get a landrys card. It costs you $25, but you get that back with a code for 25 off. You also get 25 for your birthday month every year. If you go to T Rex or any Landry owned at WDW and show them the card, you will get seating quickly, even if you don’t have an ADR.

I think they'd like it. My now 17yr old and 18 yr old nephew like it. Plus they like the food, but then again at 6'4 and 6'5 I've yet to see food they won't eat!!

It's a cool place. Probably cooler for most teen boys than a signature restaurant would be because it's good sized portions, laid back vibe and again, pretty good sized portions and teen boys typically eat a lot.

They usually order the Ribs or the Ribs Chicken combo.

Yes! It is our DD's favorite restaurant. She loves their ribs. It is kind of like Applebee's but a bit better and the atmosphere is very fun.

You know your kids best. If you think they'd like it, I bet they will! If looking for another option, Raglan Road features live music and Irish dancing and also has great food. It can be loud but feels like a party.

So it really does come down to the kids and their personalities. I have one niece and nephew who would shrug it off. My daughter is 18 and would love it. My oldest nephew only cares about food and as long as there's plenty of it, whatever is surrounding him is irrelevant.

I say take a chance, why not.

Sounds to me like your kids would enjoy the atmosphere.

We went every year through 17. Would have went this year but the food which was decent years ago keeps getting worse. With that the burgers are fine the Rotissereie chicken is decent the meatloaf is acceptable There was a Pasta dish that was good but gone for a few years have not tried the new ones. The moral don't stray from the basics and you will have a good experience. Ordered the steak and shrimp once and the Extinection dessert HUGE Mistakes.
