Yeah, that's an odd place. Also surprised it'll be so close to Rainforest.

OMG! They tore down all those beautiful large oak trees that were located between the old traffic circle and Fulton's Crab House. And they widened the barricade area of the construction site to eat up more parking spaces than what was blocked one week ago. There were serious parking space shortages last night at PI.

Sources tells me that the construction project will take more than a year which means T-REX actually opening in 2008 is a long shot.

As for the empty storefronts on Pleasure Island, leases still have not been finalized on anything except for a surf shop in the space adjacent 8TRAX which previously housed the recording studio.

Building it relatively close to RainForest makes a lot of sense. It's the same reasoning you use when Lowe's builds near where there already is a home depot. The customers who are interested are already in the area. Someone interested in Bongo's or House of Blues probably wouldn't consider T-rex a reasonable trade. People who gave up on Rainforest because of the crowds on the other hand would be happy.

Shame about the oak grove. That little dark area gave the whole Marketplace area a bit of ambience. Disney reallly should put in something like a trolley car or even a Friendship to shuttle people from one end of DTD to the other.

Actually there is a shuttle.....a water shuttle with stops at Marketplace, PI and Westside. I don't think it's well-advertised though as most people don't realize it's there.

I love the Cracker Barrel because I have this picture of good country cooking going on back there in the kitchen. I'd hate to learn the truth about what really goes on back there!

They do do everything the old fashioned way there. Sooo yummy I had a friend that worked there and he said how much prep they had to do. And there is one person that comes there in the mornings and makes and preps the biscuits everyday.

OK, that's good to hear; thanks. I just hope my beef stew doesn't really come out of a boiling bag! Well.....on second thought.....it doesn't matter.....it's delicious wherever it comes from!

Sad, Just got back from a 2 day visit, and boy, is that going to cause an incredible traffic nightmare. They could have gone down a little further, just past CirqueDesolel {sp?] where there is plenty of room in the parking lot, and it would probably drag more bodies to that end of the Westside area instead of causing a "sardine" situation in the current spot.
