I had read T-Rex was a more difficult reservation, but was skeptical since it's pretty easy to reservations for Rainforest. I've never considered going to T-Rex on numerous trips before now, because it has rather sketchy reviews, but my grandson wanted to go. So I'm up at 6am on the computer this morning and an 8pm dinner reservation was the only thing available! That's kind of late for us to eat dinner, however, I do have a Landry's Select card. Could this get us in earlier? It's gotten us into Rainforest and Yak 'N Yeti without reservations before, but those places did not appear crowded at that time. So are ressies always this hard to get at T-Rex on a Saturday night in June? And experience with a Landry's Select card when restaurants are booked solid?

We've used our Landry's card at Yak & Yeti when there were no reservations available and other parties were being quoted 90-minute wait times. We were seated within a few minutes. We had the same type of experience at Rainforest in DS. Never been to T-Rex though. T-Rex is not on Opentable.

YES!! I have a Landry's card and have been able to get into both T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe within 10 minutes when the wait time was over an hour. While it costs $25 up front, you get the $25 right back on your first meal. They also send you $25 every year for your birthday. Well worth it in my opinion!!

This has always been my experience with a Landry's card at Yak and Yeti, T-Rex, and Rainforest Cafe.

another call directly to T-REX and depends on size of party for the card our group is to big but I have had good luck calling directly

So...all this talk of delaying people with ADRs to favor people with the club card. Does this mean I should expect to wait a long time to be seated for my reservation? :(

It's possible. You could also get the card though, it's functionally free.
Fair point...I've been reluctant to commit the $25 since I've only recently decided to do T-REX on this trip and I'm not likely to eat at their other restaurants (we don't have any in our area and it's not a super high priority on my trip). If I do get the card, do you think I should hang onto my reservation or let it go so I have more flexibility in when I arrive at the restaurant?

Let it go.

We love our card. The yearly Birthday reward is for good for 6 weeks... the month of your birthday and the first two weeks of the next. Additionally, we picked June for my birthday month even though my actual birthday is March. They don’t check your ID, you only get one Birthday reward per year, and we were going more in the June/early July timeframe than in March.

with Landry card you jump the wait. No need for reservations with the card. Works same way for rainforest & yak & yeti. I’ve never waited more than 10 minutes without reservations.

No, the number of people with Landry’s cards is relatively small, so it’s unlikely you’ll wait extra time to be seated. I think T-Rex and Rainforest take a lot of walk-ups, who are the people who wait a very long time.

OTOH, why not get your own Landry’s card? Then you don’t have to worry about it!
