The T-Rex restaurant at DTD is scheduled to open in October of 2008.

I spoke with some one from Rainforest Cafe the other day...She said there is not much information available...That they are still waiting to hear final plans also....

She says she heard November openning, that it would not be on the plan, and has no idea when they will start taking ADR...That would stand to reason...You cannot make ADR if you don't know that you are going to open....Like I said, she was not sure of these things...It is all rumor at this point.

That's a shame that it isn't on the dining plan. I wasn't planning on it being on the dining plan since Rainforest Cafe isn't, but I had my fingers crossed. We most likely will pay OOP for this....after all the "princess/girly" dining at WDW, it's nice to see something that most boys will enjoy.

We have eaten at the T-Rex in KC too. And trust me it's not as bad as Rainforest Cafe. I actually think it's much cooler. My DS loved it.

There are several themed rooms. Bar area is sea themed with a giant octopus hanging overhead and a huge aquarium. The rest of the rooms downstairs have other dinosaurs, of course there's a giant t-rex at the entrance. There's also a room upstairs that's the ice age and has a mammoth. At the very top are planets, meteors, etc and every 20 minutes or so there is a little lights show but it's no where as loud or annoying as RC.

I can't remember what I ate (it was back in October) but for some reason I remember DGM (my mom) got nacho's that were huge.

It didn't seem as overpriced as RC either, so that's a good thing.

It's owned by the same people who run Build a Bear Workshop. They have a cute "Build Your Own Dino" area. The gift shop isn't too bad priced either. If you're kids love dinosaurs like mine you can find some cute and educational toys that won't cost you their college education

We were at WDW at then of 2007, and at the time they were giving out samples of their food. And in my opinion, their food was WAY better than Rainforest Cafe!

We tried a mushroom/cheese stuffed ravioli that came with lobster sauce...It was sooo good. So good in fact my husband is constantly asking when it is that it will open. We are not fans of Rainforest Cafe, and I really hope that all the dishes at T-Rex are better.

We shall be there for 3 and a half weeks in October leaving on the 1st of November, knowing my luck it will open on the 2nd !!!!

I have DS who is a huge Dino fan, would love to be able to take him there during our trip.

just off with Disney Dining today...had CM check the status...she was surprised that status changed from "coming fall 08" to "late 08".

It's located exactly next to the big McDonalds in Downtown Disney. It's def. coming along, but I think it will be late this year before it's done. Just because of all the detail that has to be put into this restaurant. I am for sure going to go next year!

We will definitely go there on our next trip. We saw the construction on our last trip, when both DS and DD said we have to give that one a try

The sign still only says opening Fall 2008, but it is making its way above the fencing. I really hope it is open in December. I can go to RFC at DTD, but really want to try T-Rex.

We were in DTD Jan 2009 and tried to make a dinner reserv. for 7 for 6pm and were informed they were all booked up. The woman suggested we show up anyway since they set aside tables for walk ins. When we arrived we gave our name to Hostess and seated within 10mins. A great experience for the children and adults alike. Build a dino was a little pricey but a great take away for the kids evening out ($69.99 for 3 dino builds....clothing extra!!!!). Well worth the visit.

My wife and I ate at T-Rex January 18, 2009. It was loud, colorful and a blast. The kids loved it- so did we (we are both in our 50's). My wife had the salad and I had the rotiserre chicken- it was excellent. We both ate for less than $45.00 including tip. We will definatley go back. If you have a young one that likes dinos this is a must- especially the ice cave room. It changes colors as you sit there. We sat next to the animatronic dinos that blinked , moved and looked like they were going to eat our food. As earlier stated, it is owned by the same company that has the Rain Forest Cafe- so you know the atmoshpere. I would recommend this restaraunt.

We ate there on Saturday. We walked in around 12:30ish and we were seated within 5 minutes. The service was great! Dh is a vegetarian and the chef came out to talk to him and ended up making him the mushroom ravioli with marinara (instead of lobster) and said he would make him something from scratch if he wanted too! The apps came out hot and our dinner followed shortly after the apps were eaten. Again, hot and fresh. The food was outstanding! I've eaten at RFC and wasn't impressed. I'd def recommend T-Rex over RFC. We also ordered their chocolate volcano dessert which was not only very good but very neat with all the *smoke*. The 4 of us couldn't finish it but I'd order it again! The brownie was so moist and mmmmm. The atmosphere was great too of course. I loved all the dinosaurs as did the kids and it was a good show.

Can't speak to the DTD one, but we live about 20 minutes from the original one (and only other one!) in KC and we love it. For a restaurant that's geared toward kids (especially in the KC market as opposed to Disney!), it's a little pricey, but the food is good and the dinosaur theme is fun! The bar drinks look great (and pricey) but tasty with fun themed names. If you have a dc (or parents!) who is into dinos, it's well worth the money!
