T-Rex restaurant

they were building something at AK when we were there in the fall and I guess that's what I thought it was. Weird...

I guess it's back to the drawing board to figure out an AK ADR! LOL

That was Yak & Yeti which is now open.

We have eaten at the T-Rex in KC too. And trust me it's not as bad as Rainforest Cafe. I actually think it's much cooler. My DS loved it.

There are several themed rooms. Bar area is sea themed with a giant octopus hanging overhead and a huge aquarium. The rest of the rooms downstairs have other dinosaurs, of course there's a giant t-rex at the entrance. There's also a room upstairs that's the ice age and has a mammoth. At the very top are planets, meteors, etc and every 20 minutes or so there is a little lights show but it's no where as loud or annoying as RC.

I can't remember what I ate (it was back in October) but for some reason I remember DGM (my mom) got nacho's that were huge.

It didn't seem as overpriced as RC either, so that's a good thing.

It's owned by the same people who run Build a Bear Workshop. They have a cute "Build Your Own Dino" area. The gift shop isn't too bad priced either. If you're kids love dinosaurs like mine you can find some cute and educational toys that won't cost you their college education:rotfl:

T-Rex Restaurants are owned by Landry's Restaurants Inc, the same company that owns Rainforest Cafe.

Build-a-Dino is owned by Build-a-Bear Workshop and has a "shop" in T-Rex.

The time frame for completion keeps changing. I was hoping it was going to be open by the time we were there, but it doesn't look that way. The main reason I want to go is my daughter is a huge dino fan and I know she would enjoy it, but I guess we will just have to settle for the dinos at AK.

I have looked at the menu on the website and the food looks similar to RFC. I love RFC (except the one at AK), so I am looking forward to this restaurant opening. I sure hope it is open in December, so I can get my 6 year old cousin a Build-A-Dino for Christmas.

My DS is Crazy about Dinos.. I can't wait for this to open. I guess I probably won't have any luck for my Sept trip!

I and my husband cannot wait for this to open! Does anyone have recent pictures taken this month to show how it's coming along? Oh how I wish it would have be open when we go this June, but that will just give us a good reason to come back.;) As if we need an excuse!

Bumping, hoping for an update. I will be there in 9 days and will see, but would like to know before going down.

My three sons would love this as well! Anybody have any further info? Hopefully there won't be any delays since we'll be there in December and January.

This is why I am hoping that it will be open in December. We are taking 3 children in December and the boy in the group LOVES Dinosaurs and this would be the icing on the cake for him. If not, we will take them to RFC, cause it is basically the same food and the atmosphere is great.

The T-Rex restaurant at DTD is scheduled to open in October of 2008.
