Hiya all! :goodvibes This is my first thread on the Disboards woo! Well I've been to Disney countless times and the last 2 times we went we saw the 'T-Rex Café' pop up in Downtown Disney. It's always intrigued me, and we're booking our next trip back to the GF now :wizard: - so I was wondering whether I should reserve it and give it a go: what do all of you reckon? Good/bad experiences?

:welcome: to the DIS!

If you use the search function, you will find many many threads on T-Rex. Enjoy your trip!

We loved it, food was great and the cotton candy martini was amazing but it was very expensive so don't know if I would go again.

Have the crowds thinned out at all? I'm assuming it was a busy place because it was new and the novelty of it? We're going in Sept '09 and it's the only restaurant my boys have asked to go to. I want to plan accordingly. Thanks!

We were there in March and it was a very popular place. We actually ended up eating at 2:30 p.m. -- a time we thought would be less busy -- but had to eat at the bar or wait an hour for a table. I was actually happy at the bar (we were two adults) and thought it offered a great seat for all the "activities." It's been awhile since I ate at Rainforest Cafe, but my impression of T Rex is that the restaurant and shop is much smaller than RC. RE: the food . . . my expectations were low, so I was pleasantly surprised with the fish tacos -- which I thought were great. I'm a fish taco fan, and T Rex's tacos were tasty. I'd rate them a 7 or a 10 point scale. Would I go again? Yes -- I would, especially now that I know what I'm getting in terms of food and atmosphere. It is a bit on the expensive side, but I was happy with the quality of the food and definitely with the size of the portions. Hope that helps . . .

We went early (around 4 pm) on a Friday night during spring break. The place was really crowded, but the line moved quickly. They have a sand pit at the front of the restaurant for the kids to play in while you wait to go in. The Build-a-Dinosaur is the exact same thing as Build-a-Bear. They also accept BAB coupons :goodvibes so we saved money on DD's dino. This is the largest restaurant I have ever been in! The inside is decorated similar to the Rainforest Cafe and the food is also similar. I think it was great for the price! Total food bill for 5 of us (2 adults, 1 teen, and 2 kids) was $120 tip included and DH and I both had adult beverages. I even got a souvenier glass . The food was good and the atmosphere was great :). We'll definitely go back again. I wish it was part of DDP.

This is good to know. We wanted to go since DS loves dinosaurs, but everyone keeps saying how expensive it is. That's not bad though. We'll also have 2 adults, 1 teen and 2 kids and I was figuring about 120 w/ tip. That seems to be the going price for dinner for 5, even where we live. Great! Now we're definitely taking the kiddos there!!!
