System Down, what do you do?

Hi,
I've read that on Wed there were some technical problems around WDW and people were requested to pay with cash their meals/shopping.

If this happens, what do you do with the DP credits? Lets say a family of 4 in California Grill, would they need to pay again for a meal they've got included in their DP? as they'd be losing now 8 TS credits!

I'm worried this will happen while we're there and want to know how to act.

Thanks!

Yep...system was down Tuesday. Not sure if it was all of Disney, or just restaurants not owned by Disney. We ate at RFC outside AK, and they were telling everyone that their system was down, and you'd have to pay OOP. We pay OOP anyway, so it wasn't a problem for us.

My guess if the CMs can't resolve it there and then, maybe charge to the room, but if thats down too pay cash/credit card (keep the receipt!). Then visit the front desk of your hotel at a later date/time and ask them to solve it. I would expect the front desk staff to be able to refund the cost of the dinner and charge the DDP credits instead. Or even on the last day when you cannot use the credits maybe a front desk manager could just refund the meal.

For the meal, then take your receipt to the front desk or concierge at your resort. They'll refund the meal and deduct the credits.

This happened to us at Epcot. We stopped by TT to get slushies and luckily I had a Disney GC with me, but at the TS I noticed everything was zeroed out and said "stored order" and then the credits for our Akershus breakfast did not come out of our credits until yesterday. So, I guess the TS (no experience with CS) store the order and then deduct it later. Just remember that you used those credits already as they will come out later.

We had a bunch of credits that we tried to use when the systems were down on Tuesday. Our snacks and QS went through no problem (although the receipt didn't say how many credits were remaining). The TS we had some issues getting to go through and I believe a manager ended up overriding the transaction so that it would go through.

Anywho, even though it appeared to go through, we still have those credits available. Concierge said the system was down and basically the transactions didn't go through. They also said we can use the extra credits at checkout. There are no other charges to our room for these meals.

I'm just wondering whether this can backfire by using the extra credits.

We had the same thing with extra credits after that slowdown, and they just took a few days to go through. Basically, if you got a bill for it, it's in their system, and those credits will be deducted sooner or later. Disney IT does not goof in favour of the customer, you can sure of that at least ;).

Thanks for all the answers, so basically if we find a system down it should not cost us extra nor lose those Credits
